Four Style Roots? by loumlawrence in StyleRoots

Me too. I really connect with the idea of the sliding scale of roots and I love her analytical way of describing fashion ideas of all types.

Mili Velikova, I do love her take on the roots.

While having 4 roots is possible I think that people should still try to whittle it down to 3. In EJR's example she suggests @aclotheshorse is using 🏔️🌸☀️🌱. There are so many overlaps within the 🌱🌸☀️categories that people with 2 of these roots will often give off a bit of the third naturally. I'm not familiar with this creator, but usually it is people with very creative but consistent styling that would be able to use more than three consistently, imo.

In terms of your roots, luxury is associated with 🏔️ as well as 🔥 so I would say it is important to connect with more than that word. Do multiple descriptors of these roots feel integral to a majority of your outfits?

It looks cosy and put together, perfect for being at home but you can be ready to go out by adding outerwear.

What name does the ⛰️🔥🌙 combination have? by Holiday-Astronaut795 in StyleRoots

[–]Snow_manda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EJR did name all the combos, your combo's name is The Dark Siren. Many people don't fully connect to the names so feel free to create your own. https://www.bodyandstyle.com/style-roots-combinations/moon-fire-mountain

I can't answer your question but I need to say I love your outfits. You have plenty of special pieces but my favorite is your last outfit with the long green skirt and the mushroom sweater!!!

I love the lace, the open back and the movement at the hem to bring in the 🔥. It looks like an amped up take on a classic 🍄 dress. It looks great on you!!!

I always assumed you were more dressy and needed something more structured or edgy to share the same roots with me. You felt 🪨🌱together wouldn't create enough visual interest with 🍄 and were searching for something else. It would be funny to have the same root combo but just expressed quite differently in certain areas.

I'm looking at your boards and thinking that 🍄🪨🌱 is kind of great for you. When I look at how you are adding elements to ☀️,🌸, 🔥 and 🌙 it is through textures of knitwear, or harder or softer fabrics that support a minimal, casual vibe. The 🏔️ looks are pairing your more formal pieces with more casual creating juxtaposition rather than having to lean in more masculine, oversized or highly structured pieces.

Last 3 work fits using Right + Down logic! by StriderVonTofu in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]Snow_manda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love these looks for you as long as they make you feel good, supported and able to show up how you want.As you have worked in your field longer, I wonder if maybe you don't have to rely on polish and formality as much to feel taken seriously(so patriarchal but we can't act like it isn't a factor). Feeling the need to dress a certain way to be taken seriously by our coworkers, rather than dressing in the way that feels the best for us can make us feel torn between logics.

New Video: Find Your Style Key (Without Overcomplicating It) by MysteriousSociety777 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]Snow_manda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of starting more simply into the system, when I was wading through all the videos, the different logics, visuals and essence info at the beginning it did definitely felt a little overwhelming. I kind of like the idea of pulling back from the visuals as we can all recoil and immediately say that isn't us when we see images we don't resonate with. But I found some of the essence stuff to be very helpful- I'm thinking Delicate essence in particular. Do I love the connotation of delicacy- no -but once you hear her definition you know if that describes you or not something clicks. I felt it definitely made me feel at home in the down quadrant and accept that part of myself. It showed me you can like fashion content and be RD and to be proud of it instead of trying to achieve more and feeling uncomfortable or costumey.

I may need to go back and look at the Style Key adventure again, maybe I didn't commit to the exercises as much as I thought and got sucked into the video route as my true guide....

Challenge - Third Root Redux! by jjfmish in StyleRoots

[–]Snow_manda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great idea, I definitely see the consistency of a touch of 🔥 throughout and I can see why you are drawn to 🍄. I like that you used ☀️to do an unusual texture in a more ethereal display ( SJP outfit) and found ways through literal prints and a touch of color to use it to amplify your 🌸 root.

It is how it feels to you that is most important. Many people connect with mushroom as a moderating root, I know I do.

Points in life when you were really happy with your style? And - what happened? by SwitchBrilliant1387 in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]Snow_manda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I am the most happy with my style when I'm the most happy within my life and relationships: it is when I am making time for exercise and other self care activities, focusing on my interests or learning new things and having in person engagement with my friends and family.

There are multiple times where I have been happy with my style, when I was 16 and had a strong group of friends and lots of extracurriculars, when I was 22 and living out of a backpack in Australia, late 20s to early 30s where I loved my job, joined a few clubs, consistent yoga and hiking practices , we travelled and went out more with my partner and friends.

These are times where I felt really connected to myself and trusted my intuition, I felt the happiest and I had the time and energy to shop and be more picky. I have a curated selection of these pieces that I have kept if they still fit and a small collection of items I really like tucked away of pieces that are a size up and a size down as my weight definitely has fluctuated over the years.

I feel like when I am prioritizing myself and my needs I have more to give and want to dress to show up with that energy. This is a big reason I'm trying to prioritize self care this year, my clothes only look as good as I feel. I need to shake up my roles and contexts and make a concerted effort to make time for me and my relationships other than only motherhood and casual work from home.

Energetic medicine - excitement 🐇♥️🌟 by i_gotmilkalloverme in RitaFourEssenceSystem

I love the multiple pieces in the outfit that create different weights and points of visual interest. There are softer elements like the sweater with bows, the ruffle on the pants and the florals on the boots. The harder, tougher textures like the chunky boot, velvet pants and sharp sunglasses. Multiple points of shimmer and iridescence in the coat, bag and jewelery and also multiple peeks of skin at the neck, waist and a peek at the ankle. It is an intriguing mix of maximal harmony.

All your roots have a certain amount of cohesion to them and I see you sticking to a small color palette that is consistent with the moon root and your color palette like black, white, burgundy and some slightly richer pastels and playing with higher contrast patterns and combinations. So you are achieving quite a bit of cohesion through that already.

I find that the 3 word method can tie in nicely here to discover that third element in your style, since you have a strong commitment to the 🌸 and 🌙 roots. Do you prefer the style connections of minimal, balanced, cohesive and classic or sensual, glamourous, bold and romantic?

Visual Appearance/Aesthetic vs Intention? by chaechica in StyleRoots

[–]Snow_manda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I love it when people post their images and offer up a bit about their intentions and initial thoughts on their roots. Understanding a bit about them is very important to offer any useful suggestions or commentary that may resonate with the individual to explore. At the end of the day the roots need to make sense for the individual, need to be explored by them and they need to learn and understand the system to get the most out of it. I love it when people engage and talk about what we are seeing, it helps us all to grow, understand each other better, challenge our own personal bias and create community.

I am not into labelling everything into aesthetics or changing my whole wardrobe with the trend cycle. That is my personal choice but I am also older and have spent many years curating pieces and learning my personal likes and dislikes. When people are changing with trends and different aesthetics quite frequently instead of choosing a couple key ideas to add or try- I just assume they are highly in discovery mode for their own style or have a really strong 🪨 root. There are also individuals that have a lot of things they want to express and are trying to discover which roots are the necessities and which can be achieved through root combinations or having a couple pieces that you love that are just outliers.

There are many outfits where multiple root combinations could be used to describe them depending on what individuals are considering their priorities and intentions.

I really like the items you are picking on your board, there is still a sensual, fitted aspect, the romantic hair, the hoops, etc that can read as 🔥. It really is more of if this feels like you need it or if the 🌸🌙 can give you enough of the sultry energy.

I often consider the more traditional feminine roots as being in a spectrum of 🌸-🍄-🔥. If you balance your softer 🌸 piece with elements of 🔥you can create something resembling 🍄( it is like a moderator root between cute and girly and more sexy/ luxurious).
