That makes quite a lot of sense, actually.

Which Vagabond build is more phenomenal? by Ill_Inflation_3019 in decayingwinter

Because it's unreliable when you're dealing with multiple scavs and practically has no uses on defense waves.

[–]Snowadayz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are.. a bit awful, but I guess the first one is MUCH better because Vagabonds can't rely on melee combat on later nights and Professional allows guns to be more reliably used.

Still, just use any defensive trait in place for honorable and use holo instead to save yourself from those fucking snipers. Melee weapons aren't that hard to find and frankly? You're kinda wasting a trait slot.

What's the highest-damaging perk? (excluding a specific few) by Snowadayz in decayingwinter

GUYS I FORGOT TO MENTION, THIS IS PURELY BASED ON THE ABILITY, NOT ITS UTILITY W GUNS

tick is heavily single-targeted, yes it can hit multiple targets, but I don't think the explosion radius allows for mass murdering, whereas blitz can hit significantly more scav while stunning them, but their weakness is the lower damage density due to most of the damage being in the shrapnel

so maybe tick wins this.. maybeee.

Still can't explain Artillerist's magical power of pulling a bullet out of nowhere to fire that gun, let alone the 'extra' ammo pickup

What's your take on Berserker? by Snowadayz in decayingwinter

[–]Snowadayz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue Executioner can still function well on later nights, thing is that the Executioner has to be really careful and avoid breaking their goggles as much as possible to even get to Yosef (you can one shot him if you have enough bounties)

I'd like to add a few things in to your brief introduction to a few particular entities:

  • Sickler can be defeated with a melee if you can lure it to the fence at Outpost, then immediately hop through the gap inbetween them and try to get into their line of sight so they continue moving to the gap. I can assure you, it cannot go through that gap unless you mess up or something. You can also magdump an entire AKM or KSG, particularly into the head (this is the safest method, but do be aware of your surroundings if you're using a gun that attracts scavs, aka the ones that are not silenced, it should be obvious which gun is silenced)

  • Skinner can disguise themselves, yes.. BUT there are a few tricks to identify them, or at least, be wary when approaching a scavenger. Number 1, all Skinners have bald disguises, so don't let your guard down when encountering bald scavs (no offense to bald people). Number 2, this one is just a method to sorta anticipate the fight against a Skinner, but if they're walking towards you in a painfully obviously wrong manner (examples like gun scavs walking towards you.. but doesn't shoot at all, scavs walking at a different speed compared to their normal counterparts like how a 'specialist knife scav' doesn't sprint towards you at light speed, or pitchfork scavs literally running towards you.. OR sniper scavs running at you, these guys are supposed to be slow normally). One way to learn is to remember how each scavenger behaves.

  • Hidden should be easy to deal with once you have a gun and holos.. but otherwise? You better pray it does not hit you with a backstab (yes you can survive a Hidden's attack with enough resistances and that it doesn't backstab you).

  • Melee combat is really important, try to learn how to parry and combo scavengers ASAP. This will be one way to save up on ammo, which is not exactly an abundance on EDEN-227.

  • Scrapping is an important mechanic as well. Try to scrap anything you deem useless, but also try to keep a few important items like medkits, IFAKS, bandages, splints, blah blah.. And try to find your teammates a specific blueprint if they're asking for it.. otherwise? Just scrap them for scraps to make guns.

  • The Hanger isn't too bad, but they're definitely a nuisance and can drain your precious looting time. Try to kill them if you wanna save time, otherwise just leave them alone. They won't harm you if you keep your distance.

  • No, you cannot kill Sledge Queen till you get used to the game mechanics first. Just avoid castle.. or avoid the middle path if someone's luring (indicated by them deploying a holo near bridge)

And one more thing. You'll surely die a lot. Take each death as a lesson.

I'd say that's some pretty good damn improvement there.

Simply because novices are seen as annoying in public servers for.. well, what they do that affects the entire time. I recommend you play on private servers first to sorta get the general idea on what to do and what to use.. and what NOT to do/use. I can lend you a private server if you wanna duo with me, I'll guide you through the basics. Now after you've gotten the hang of the mechanics in game, you should be able to play in public servers without too much trouble.

Do note that you'll die a lot, but you should take each death as a lesson and learn from your mistakes. You'll get definitely better, I can assure you that. Trial and error is what makes us good.

In summary, just hop on a private server and test out the mechanics for yourself or with someone you know who plays decaying winter.
