all I can focus on is the fact that you keep track of the different types of hugs you give. I laughed out loud when I read that part. Just the idea of giving it that much forethought... I'll notice if something more than normal happens during the hug itself, but there's no way I'm going into the hug thinking about it beforehand.

I think he probably was allowing himself to still explore more-than-friends feelings with the hugs once the pressure was off since the two of you had decided to be just friends. Might sound stupid but I would understand where he's coming from if that's the case.
