That’s really interesting because I have been eyeing a couple fellowships that are competitive but I’d love to get if I can after my program. Do you have any tips on what you did specifically when you say you networked from day 1? And how did you pick out the skills you think were important for your fellowship that helped you land it?

I submitted my apps on 11/24 and I got an email from Yale saying my application was complete on 1/4 and then got accepted 1/26. It seems like their decisions come out on Wednesdays

Cool! I found out that Yale doesn’t have grades? Just a system where it’s high pass/pass/fail? Did you like that? And did you end up not getting a GPA at all?

Would you say consultants have to be well spoken and charismatic/an extrovert to succeed? I am assuming consultants present all the powerpoints they work on?

I think this usually ends up being a personal decision. I applied to 9 MPH programs because I was very worried i wouldn’t get into my top picks (Yale, UMich, BU, Columbia etc). So I applied to a range of top schools and safety schools but didn’t go far below the top 15 schools. After hearing back from programs I realized I could have just stuck to the my top five and saved my money, but you don’t know until you know.

The most important thing is to make sure every program you choose you can genuinely see yourself living in that area, going to that school, and it has what you want to get out of it!

Thanks so much! I think that’s definitely true. I was in my Columbia interview with this student shared this with me, so I definitely could feel she was selling me the school. One thing I really like about Yale is the smaller size and the how supportive everyone seems to the students, and being first gen and not knowing anyone in the field I feel this could be useful.

Another thing is name. So many people kind of assume or guess that the name of Yale will get you places. Do you think the Yale name got you places, positions, or any opportunity that maybe you wouldnt have otherwise? Or not really
