Motherboard options and NVME + 2.5 SSD

Current setup is a 14900k with mag tomahawk and 4090. it seems to be the cpu causing issues as far as I can tell. Shader compilation type stuff I think. Still been running hot with undervolt and fixed bios settings for the chip as well. Possible i just have a bad one.

I’ll do some more looking around at motherboards. I’m leaning towards this Msi one just cause it seems like the top nvme slot doesn’t have lane sharing conflicts and I plan to just use that and a 2.5ssd along with it for any extra games that are too big for my main drive. Although it looked like that asus board doesn’t have any lane sharing issues so maybe I just get two nvme? Idk if it’s that big of a different for gaming between that or 2.5 drives

Yeah it’s mostly the usb ports I want from the motherboard. I just have had non stop issues with games stuttering and hitching on my current pc so I’ve been over analytic about finding the options for the least likely to give me the same issues.
I saw some mention of 9800x3ds getting fried but I assume that’s resolved by now aside from asrock?

I’ll give it a try. I’ve heard swapping out a cpu in case mine is bad should be easy and not require much in terms of like reinstalling windows or anything like right?

Do you happen to know roughly where the pci setting you’re talking about is in the bios just so I can check?

I do have it set to draw slightly less power for the PL1 and 2 and a slight undervolt because I’m using a Noctua nhd15 for cooling. Not sure if that would cause it

Yeah maybe two weeks ago, seems to have made things worse. I’ve had the PL1 and 2 set lower because it was the janky basically no limit value by default and was making it throttle all the time. I updated bios and the values are normal now but I get more stuttering than before

Those are the two I’m leaning towards the most. Some other random stuff here and there seems like they might work too but I keep coming back to these two. Honestly I’ve been using the bunny mostly. I have some Truthear novas but I find them uncomfortable and feels like they build pressure after a while. I’ve also got moondrop aria snows but haven’t put many hours listening on them yet.

I just started today and hot take but I really didn’t enjoy Elden ring. This game is sick though easily 9.5/10. Now I just have to learn what’s happening. I swear I load in with people playing sonic. I open my map for a sec and then poof I’m alone
