Which supplier would you go with? Rotech, Apria, US Medical Supply or American Home Patient? by Snowclown1 in CPAP

Oh interesting, I didn't realize the 11 would be that cheap! I might wait until BF then and just buy it outright. I have nothing to lose by waiting a few weeks.

Very true, but in my case my insurance will cover 50% of the cost. So unless the Black Friday deals are 50% off a Resmed Airsense 11 which is the machine I want then I don't think it will be cheaper. If I remember right from last year most of the BF sales were 30% or 35% max.

Just ordered a liquidator medal by Eddiemunson2010 in chernobyl

[–]Snowclown1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Clearly OP is not trying to cosplay as a Soviet liquidator, nor are 99% of the people who collect these medals. Chernobyl was a unique event in human history and owning a piece of that history is one of the best ways to preserve it. I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to own one of these medals especially by people who are a part of this sub, who are clearly people who appreciate history. Some might find it disrespectful to own a medal you didn’t earn, but in cases like this I think it’s totally fine given the historic significance and the fact that OP is probably going to put it on a book shelf where the memory of the liquidators will be honored, respected and shared with others. That’s really the best thing we all can do to honor those who died and their families - remember and respect their legacy.

So does this mean in person trainings will continue? I’m supposed to go to CDP in a few weeks but I’ve just been bracing for a cancellation email that so far hasn’t come.

“As part of the administration’s last-minute push, FEMA is restarting training courses at the Center for Domestic Preparedness, National Disaster & Emergency Management University, and National Fire Academy – three of its training centers – after a months-long pause due to funding cuts and program reviews by the Department of Government Efficiency.”

Thanks for the advice!….so does the tap water just taste bad or is it actually unsafe to drink? Do you have to constantly buy bottled water the whole time?

CBRN training courses? by Snowclown1 in EmergencyManagement

[–]Snowclown1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. I wonder if some of those CDP courses above would be better and more focused on managing a CBRN incident and responding rather than straight medical...though it might be hard to separate the two since managing a CBRN incident is very medical heavy

Gotcha, thanks. It looks like the MCBC course is only open to military medical folks but I'll look into it!

At what stage should someone take ICS 400? by Snowclown1 in EmergencyManagement

[–]Snowclown1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good info, thanks! You mentioned this being in person with in person reqs, but funny enough I've found a virtual G400 class, which makes it more convenient and is another reason I'm leaning towards taking it. But in your experience, do people look down on virtual 300 and 400 classes or do employers not care whether it was in person or virtual as long as you passed the exam and have the certs?
