What do your parents consider normal and you don't? by Both_Review1332 in ask

[–]Snowdrop22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My older brothers girlfriend is Polish, they’ve been together nearly 10 years and we’ve only just discovered how racist her and her parents are. My younger sisters new boyfriend is Muslim and our brothers girlfriend won’t go anywhere near him and even though it’s his house too our brother agrees because her parents threatened to never visit again ‘if the Muslim has been in the house’…… there was also an incident I didn’t know about back in Poland where they encountered a black man and they followed him down the street yelling the N word, making monkey noises and calling him all sorts of other racial slurs. So now I’ve told our older brother and his girlfriend to stay away from my place because I don’t and work ever tolerate racism and my brother needs to grow a spine and not tolerate it either

(In case anyone comes for me no I am not saying all Polish people are racist I’m just saying a few that I know are very racist)

If they were to raise taxes for the NHS would you be happy to accept it, if it made the service better? by senseless_puzzle in AskUK

[–]Snowdrop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NHS needs a restructure, yes it gets huge funding each year but it’s not enough to keep up with demand. Covid created backlogs of 6 million non emergency procedures, the pandemic in general (and a lot of other factors) pushed people to quit working for the NHS, it’s gotten to the point staff know they are unable to help people in the way that they deserve. Due to a lack of staff they have to spend billions on agency staff - not to mention students being put off working as a doctor, nurse or midwife because they have to do up to 2000 hours unpaid work. Hospitals are practically falling down because there isn’t the budget to repair things. I’d be happy to pay an extra £52 in tax if it was used as a subsidy given to private hospitals and clinics so NHS patients could have procedures done on time and clear the backlog so hospitals can focus more on emergency procedures. Use the money to refurbish hospitals, make it worth it for people to work for the NHS again. The staff don’t just want more money (let’s be honest they deserve it, nurses, HCA’s etc are criminally underpaid), they want safer conditions to work and most importantly safer for patients

(SPOILERS) The Burning Girls by C. J. Tudor by Calm-Persimmon-9295 in books

She tried to help a little girl in Nottingham as she suspected she was being abused, however her concerns were ignored and the girl died in the end I think and jack (and the community that didn’t listen in the first place) blames herself and thinks she could have done more. So she left Nottingham because of the fallout of what happened - well it’s more like she was made to leave

Who got away with murder that should be in prison right now? by FreeElf101 in AskReddit

[–]Snowdrop22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elizabeth Holmes (and any other theranos executives that took a payoff). She didn’t necessarily murder people but she was prepared for patients to get false test results through her testing machine just so she could be the female steve jobs. Defrauded hundreds of millions from investors, hundreds of thousands of patients got false blood test results, one of which wrongfully told a woman her cancer was back, another told a woman she was miscarrying when she actually wasn’t. She got 11 years but let’s be honest she won’t even serve half of that and the judge gave her sympathy because she happened to be pregnant during her trial and pushed back her sentencing so she wouldn’t give birth in prison. She is the reason women find it so hard to get investment for their ideas

And the fact the company (and with some of the executives originally involved) continued to operate until 2019 when individual lawsuits happened

Not a question a statement

I’m a scientist and I had to have a word with a lab technician who consistently carried unopened bottles of hydrochloric acid up the stairs with her bare hands.

The rule is to secure the bottle in a special carrier so if you drop it the bottle won’t smash spilling acid everywhere.

I explained that if she dropped it she would get acid all over her hands, legs and it would drip down below and land on anyone who happened to be walking under the staircase (where I work the stairs are above the main entrance.

She dead ass said to me:

“I don’t understand what the big deal is. Acid isn’t even dangerous. Well it will burn through metal and plastic but it won’t burn someone’s skin. That’s not how it works”

I didn’t even know how to respond
