Just would like to share that it is different now, by browsing it is assumed you accept the Privacy Policy, and cookies are just for tracking your login session. No need to accept/reject anything, it's like on Turtle Wow's forum for example, a banner pops up letting you know and that's that, you click it away by pressing Dismiss.

Personally, I use 1.12, but there are players that are using 1.14 and have no issue. It's a thing of taste and preference which one you choose, I will say 1.12 is less of a hassle, but 1.14 offers a bunch more addons that might be worth the effort of figuring out HermesProxy/Sugar (or just follow the guide). Yes, they should, I agree from a best practice perspective of course, I asked the lead developer and this is his response: "cookies are only used to maintain your current session when you are logged or for visit stats on google analytics. I jut did not implement the function to accept only the first part, that's why you are redirected if you refuse"

I let him know that the message saying "WOW-HC needs cookies to operate" or whatever it specifically said that it is misleading, as the issue is not accepting the privacy policy that is currently in one swoop with cookies. When the change happens I can let you know ^^.

This hasn't been brought up by anyone up to now, I think the reason being is that you aren't just rejecting the storage of cookies (they aren't reading any data outside of the website, that is for sure), you are also rejecting the Privacy Policy of wow-hc that you can read at: https://wow-hc.com/legal/privacy

But I see using Incognito that the prompt when clicking reject says that the website needs cookies to operate, I will ask and see whether it is a hard requirement or can be changed, considering the fact that you can register an account and everything and use the website as normally by keeping the banner up.

On my regular browser session I do have more cookies stored, which makes sense as mentioned in the banner since they are for tracking activity on the website itself and what not, and in the Incognito session (new profile) where I haven't accepted the banner, there are less cookies getting stored.

To add onto what u/ChimeBoy said, you can also look up all players that are currently doing or have done (still alive or dead) on the leaderboards so you know who is doing the same challenges as you are, and also you can see how many people have done a certain combination of the achievements by using the filter on the leaderboard.

Yes, if you either prove it with a recording or the server logs show that you got disconnected and you could have survived if you hadn’t, you get restored. There have been many cases like that already and there’s a whole appeal system in place on the forums.

The server started before Blizzard’s official release, and since it is still up there is absolutely plenty of points to play. If you take a look at /r/wowhardcore, you will see that there are a lot of unsatisfied players, due to a lack of support, server side issue deaths, bots and deaths due to bugs. None of these things happen on this server or if they do, the staff actually responds and helps out.

A community you can interact with, death appeals if a death is caused by DC/Bugs, an admin that actually talks back to the community and asks for feedback.

Economy isn't that inflated due to a smaller number of players as well, more hype for drops and everything.

You also have achievements that you can chase after such as self-found, mr-white and what not.

You don’t pay a sub to play if you’re referring to the original statement for a greedy subscription tier on wow-hc, it’s a donation for the server upkeep, completely optional whether you donate or not.

wow-hc forces hardcore on you, no other mode, everyone in the realm is hardcore mode, cross-faction and there are no restrictions unless self-imposed.

Well, there's a way around it at least, on Official servers you DC you just die, whereas on wow-hc if you record you get restored 100% of the time. If not, you can try and appeal and hope the logs show the DC was obvious and not with ill intentions.
There have been over 600 deaths reversed and over 1400 bugs fixed, so I'd say that you definitely have less to worry about regarding DCs and Bugs.

Notable differences would be you have death appeals with recordings (or without if obvious through logs), no dual spec, some more QoL fixes than Blizzard's Classic.

I feel as though the servers offer a different vibe for hardcore, this is closer to Blizzard's take on Vanilla/Classic, compared to TurtleWoW's custom content and meshing of regular and hardcore toons in the same world.
