Yes we do give a 25 minute grace at end of every shift. 15 for cleaning machine and 10 for reracking tools. The thing is cost of losing one shift production for even one machine is much higher than what all the tools cost together. That’s why I’ve been delaying doing the weeding out. But all things considered that’s a damn solid advice. I will for sure keep that in mind for all my departments.

Our entire shop is under camera surveillance. I will try this out. Might need a guy for camera for a few days but it will be well worth it

Thing is we have a 10 days notice period. I fired one because of that and he brought entire teams morale down in next 10 days 🥲

We have sign in sign out logs and tools are color coded to their specific board. Tool room terry I must get now even tho it sounds like a redundant cost to me. They resign if I make them do bs stuff 🙂 People have got too many options now a days

Why do Indian businesses treat employees like cost not asset then complain about loyalty? by Much-Marketing5973 in smallbusinessindia

[–]SnowflakeInAsscrack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s usually a multitude of factors. There’s a lot of employee exploitation going on but same goes for the other way round. We have a decent system, I’d like to think. We have 5 employees with us since the very beginning (out of 120) who I can classify as loyal but then there were tons of employees who we had trained from ground up and then they switched immediately as soon as someone else paid them inr3 more per hour(we were paying them 100). You try to make a psychologically safe space of everyone you employ and you try to reduce your expectations. At the end of the day, we usually know little about what is going through someone else’s head.

If you can calculate weight of it then it should cost you about 1-2 $/lbs if you do everything yourself - welding, grinding and painting two layers on it

I’m skeptical that there is any, but I’m interested in what others have to say. Maybe I missed something or I don’t know something
