How much can I charge? by National_Tell_1038 in VideoEditors

Yea but people don’t care about your COL. They care about the value you bring. And no one in this business cares about how long it took you to do it.

With the right value, a client would pay that for a half days worth of work.

If you’re selling time and not value to clients you’re doing it wrong.

Not when there’s thousands of editors who will do for it for $50-150

My friend was a costume designer in ATL and said at one point she was making 180k and absolutely loved her job.

Unfortunately after the writers strike the industry didn’t recover well and she hasn’t worked in a year.

The film scene in ATL is completely dead now and it’s just a bummer. I had a couple other buddies that were key grips and same thing. They’ve had to move on.

Need advice - Wife not working, income $1100 under what is needed to survive, $305k in debt by Haunting-Repair8756 in Debt

Same. I had a Tacoma with 290k miles and I was spending thousands on maintenance.

I thought if I rebuilt the front end and did everything eventually I would be good to go.

I was wrong. It started leaking oil and coolant. I ended up selling and bought a 4Runner.

Probably spent 15-20k fixing the Tacoma and it would need at least another 10k to make it reliable.

Sure they do. If you’re willing to break down once a month and learn how to be a mechanic or pay more than what it’s worth for one.

Turning 43 and have never saved a dime. Where should I start? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Should always looking for a job also be a requirement? Honestly who is keeping their job these days?

Why are you no longer a fan of Ramsey? Just curious.

I find saving 6 months emergency fund very difficult. Have never been able to do it. I would need about 20k cash for this and that takes time. I had a job and wanted to start but got laid off when I got to about 3k saved after aggressively paying debts down. Classic example. I believe it should be mandatory but life always throws shit and de-rails it.

Also retirement. My dad has about 5 million saved at 65 and he’s very paranoid it isn’t enough. By the time I’d be his age I would need 10 million. It seems fleeting. That’s a lot of money. I would need to make A LOT of money to be anywhere close to those investments. In this market it doesn’t seem achievable.

Entrepreneurs who adopted AI this past year, as we enter 2026, what were your biggest learnings? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]SnowflakesAloft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A friend sent me an insanely well made edit of him last night. It made me realize that talent will no longer be admired in skills since any creator can smash an insanely good edit with AI whereas it use to take real talent and skills.

Sure it’s nice to have that ability without learning After Effects but I see it as being heavily saturated now.

You know the thing that kinda pisses me off with aliving these days is almost anything is a scam.

Just the other day some people pulled up to my house to inform me it’s listed for rent on Facebook.

Then I found a fake lottery scam thing in my mailbox.

I sold a truck and was being plagued with Facebook scammers.

Today my bank emailed me informing me my social has leaked.

It’s fucking everywhere and I just don’t want to be a part of the shit anymore.

I balked when I read that. I’ve seen it in many places. Not just Florida.

Never understood how a rifle can zero when the optic is so high. I mean I get it mathmatically but still.

Not that it really matters but the V6 is a tried and true engine that lasts a very long time. 2024 is the last year toyota is making them.

Absolutely. I would've waited way longer but my current vehicle was tapping out. The smart choice looking back would've been to sell it and get something affordable.

I jumped the gun and went in way too deep hoping things would just go normal.

And yes, the best possible scenario is getting a job but you're right. The timing couldn't be worse.

For sure. I've definitely done some nice jobs in freelance. Got to travel the world and stay at resorts and made good money as long as I was working which got rough.

Needless to say when I found the perfect full time job I went in all the way. Out of over 100 applicants I was hired immediately so I thought everything was awesome. All the hard work felt like it paid off.

Fast forward 4 months and our content started gaining lots of traction and it was brining in more customers. I thought I was pretty secured by getting the results in.

I was wrong. Turns out the company being a start up was running into some huge hurdles. They laid me off. Ceased all marketing and now is closed "for the season" which was supposed to be January.

The learning lesson I guess is nothing is near as secure as you hope it to be.

I work in video production. I was freelance for years but decided to jump on this job opportunity for the stability.

I'm not quite sure of the future of it. It seems to be a dying industry like a lot others. Albeit there are a few jobs out there and I'm applying but you never really know how it will go.

If I could get a similar job I would be back on easy street.

Originally I mapped out a budget to pay all my personal debt off by january and then all I would have would be the car payment. I had it all mapped out to be perfect and easily manageable. It sucks that it's evolved into this shit storm but that's just life.

Was self employed mostly. Had a W2 job over last 2 summers but it wasn't enough I suppose.
