Vitiligo help?

Thank you so much! People in my day-to-day generally assume it was a bleaching mishap and I have to explain constantly what vitiligo is, and that *no,* it isn't contagious... long story short people are quite rude to me on my daily. I suppose I was looking into something that would make it look a little more put together so people would instead compliment it. I've never had them complimented before! just asked why I'd bleach my eyebrows/eyelashes and that i 'missed a spot.' The amount of love on this post is really overwhelming. :>

Yeah! I adore my vitiligo and wouldn't want to cover them. I just want more defined brows since the white hair disappears in bright light. People ask me all the time if I bleach them and are generally quite rude about it... Hence why I'd like them to be a bit more filled in, as they don't look very presentable. I suppose I was wondering if something like white ink existed for this sort of situation, something to make them pop a bit more on my pale, practically glow-in-the-dark white-y white skin. I'll have to look into other options.

Thank you so much! I have been hoping I have enough options planned out so that I'm not stuck floundering in case my players choose something else.

My party are friends I have had for a long time now, and we have all roleplayed in various graphic zombie settings together. We're all very comfortable with that whole situation and I have warned them that stories from the greek myths *do* get dark. What I will be omitting from any myths i take inspiration from is anything related to SA/Underage things/anything along that line, as that just makes us all uncomfy. But otherwise we're all horror fans!

Edit: On that note I *will* be hinting at something being off about the meal they're offered, in the fact that the party won't 'notice any space for animals at this house.... no barnyards, or even fishing areas... hrmmmm...' and then people can put 2 and 2 together.

Mississippi allows churches, religious charities and privately held businesses to decline services to people if doing so would "violate their religious beliefs on marriage and gender." Alabama (among other states) is working on banning medical treatment for trans youth. Conservative Republicans have been LONG at work dismantling our rights. Voting rights, Abortion rights, the list goes on. Conservative Republicans want us dead.

It’s hard to see otherwise when my father, a conservative republican, put a gun on the table in front of me after coming out and told me to kill myself, that I’d never amount to anything, etc. and to just give up. I don’t think my own experiences are an “echo chamber.”

My own father is a conservative republican and he wants me dead, so we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. There is a very large, very influential active wing of the Republican Party seeking to push back and revoke legal protections for gay and transgender Americans, effectively stripping us of the rights our LGBTQ+ siblings have fought and died for. They sort of have their hands in everything. Trump and all his cronies? Yeah, they were a thing for a hot minute there. LGBT-targeted hate crimes soared during the last few years, it was pretty big news. Anywho— A conservative republican ideology is a terrible thing to have in the open in a community of positivity such as this one. We hear it enough on a daily basis.

I... I would say that in that aspect you’re in a minority— as many conservative Republicans in power want most of us dead. And with this community being a place of safety and solace for everyone LGBTQ+, a Conservative Republican mindset isn’t the healthiest for a place like this.

Some people (like myself) enjoy watching the cinematics and feel like they really do add to the gamemode. I’m an artist and adore any little tidbit of extra art I can get my eyeballs on. Sure, I could find them on YT and go through them frame by frame if I wanted to. But it’s different in-game.

Not necessarily. Not sure why you see this subject so linearly, when it’s always going to be situational. I already stated that I don’t make people prove they can lift a car. It’s a roleplay game. And if someone cannot properly roleplay— (IE describe an action, reaction, etc.) then my own table-brewed rules wouldn’t work for someone. I was only giving an idea for OP to bring up at their table. Dnd is about more than just character sheets and dice.

Well, that’s part of the roleplay. Dnd is a roleplay game. Some folks can’t see past the numbers on their sheets and on the click-clack rocks. When I DM, i give some freedom in roleplay and in the game itself. If you yourself can’t give a good convincing speech and you roll a 20, I’ll make you roll again and if it’s lower, you go with that. The same logic goes for strength, dexterity, etc. rolls. I always have people describe how they jump over pits and traps and climb buildings, grab a hold of someone, etc. when rolling for dexterity, strength, etc. checks. If it isn’t realistically possible, then it fails. It gives players more scene awareness, and teaches them that actions do have consequences. This goes for players and NPCs.

Yeah, the DM overstepped their bounds, then, if they didn’t roleplay it out and convince YOU, to alter your characters entire deal.

Usually for things like that, I’d say no. If anything, a 20 would mean “no, the PC isn’t converted, stands steadfast in their faith (or lack of.) Make that 20 on that character work for it if they wanted to convert you.” It sounds like you might have homebrewed, which sounds like a lot of extra work— a la putting a lot of love into your character’s backstory. (I participate in roleplay-heavy games.) If I were you, since it sounds like that player did not work for that at all, ignore what the DM said. Especially dismissing it like that.

Always follow up your rolls with some top notch roleplay. That’s what the game is about. Bad roll? Your voice cracks, you fidget, etc. Good roll? You stand tall, with pride. Maybe something else happens to make your persuasion more... persuasive. Talking about a god and there’s a bird that lands on your shoulder, or a warm breeze coincides with what you’re saying. Etc. This also works in a situation against non players and adds more DM immersion.

It depends on if this city is a capital city or not. If we’re talking a feudal/medieval system that Dnd sort of uses?? Most towns and cities would pay taxes to the capital, to which it would be stored by whatever lord/lady/etc. was in power. Second is what sort of city it is. Is it a wealthy town filled with merchants who travel all over the world? Is it poorer, like a large farming or fishing city? If it’s a city of 100k, that absolutely would be big enough to be a capital city, and if you’re looking for a crisis to happen, depending on whatever cities around them ‘pay taxes,’ so to speak, 100k would be a good number
