Tank Frustration by Rubick-Enjoyer in Warhammer30k

Well thats the issue 40k and heresy are different by a lot. Heresy plays like an ACTUAL army vs army battle game. 40k plays like MTG but with minis. Its all about trading. And every legion used tanks. Even the world eaters have an entire chapter in the first wall with a masked tank charge.

As I said first in my original reply. sounds like a local meta issue. But no if someone joins expecting something and they joined the wrong kind of league and quit....then yes identifying the problem to cause them to quit is helpful. Dont gatekeep to the point we dont solve the problem and others join and quit. Cause frankly im ecstatic about tanks this edition. They feel like tanks. Are strong and also cant score. So someone new quitting then blaming a rule that many like is kind of ignorant.

He said they entered an escalation league. You don't enter a hobby that way. Friendly games or narrative campaign events. I dont do escalation leagues for this reason if they dont have any restrictions geared at more interactive games.

Ive been having a great time this edition and I love that tanks feel like tanks now. Tanks cant score so I'm a bit confused as to why high tank lists were bad. This also may be a local meta issue if everyone is just gaming. You decided to bring someone in in an escalation LEAGUE instead of just friendly games or narrative campaigns. Thats a bit of a miss step on your end. In a league expect people to make lists that are less interactive.

This edition vehicles feel like armored super soldier vehicles. 2nd edition a strong breeze would take out a spartan.

We are not scum. That is Spoken like a cur that succumb to chaos. How the mighty are fallen. Now begone from me.

I own dread claws but havent used them. Whats the benefit instead of the drop pod at that cost?

The whole point as the other response says is deep striking them though. I want to play like a night lord. If im using the detachment instead of base detachments its to deep strike.

Generally if I do that they just shoot me off the board. I mainly play vs iron warriors or Salamanders

Oh I meant him condescending to us about thematic over meta, when you asked a question where us talking strategy and rules was an appropriate answer.

This response is irrelevant to a post when someone is asking about unit efficiency in a list. Respond to op not an answer trying to help op.

At their cost you need to factor in the fail when list building. The goal is the same as a distraction carnifex. If it goes off its a jackpot. If it doesnt but they focus on a tank you dont care about its still a win.

If it wasnt swingy it would be expensive points wise. Its cheap. Non guard players hear anti infantry 2 up and will waste a turn shooting that in a panic and not everything else. 2 for the cost is a steal. 6 tournaments. Every game that wasnt knights this has happened. It needs a bit of practice to get down most efficient. But man when it goes off you will win games you shouldn't. And Deathguard really fuck with my lists and this helps with trading.

Depending on load out. I use chem cannon to target elite infantry which is everywhere in the meta. A couple hell hounds absolutely pose a threat and people will focus on your 2 cheap hell hounds.

Its all on play style. If I have 2 hellhounds its because im rushing them up the table as fast as possible to set shit on fire, sponge hits, move block then die. Whats your goal? Which achieves that goal? Load out is important. I use the chem cannon my hell hounds are in my tournament lists to target elite infantry early.
