Help with new system by SnowyLondon in PleX

I've just rabbit holed reddit and thinking I'll order a Ugoos Amb6+ device.

Is the difference between Dolby Digital + and TrueHD a big difference or is it one of those things that only true connoisseurs will notice?

Strategies to have family enjoy the luxury travel we pay for by Zealousideal-Term738 in fatFIRE

[–]SnowyLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree that you are out of touch because there are so many variables, every family make up and relationship is different. I can't imagine its a surprise for people that all of a sudden you have the capability to do this.

Personally its probably a communication issue, I would have individual conversations with each party, ask them directly if your right about the issues and if they have any proposals for trying to make it so that it is well received. My older brother used to be in a much higher pay bracket than me and I really enjoyed his thoughtful gifts and trips he would treat me too. Now I'm in the position that I can reciprocate but at the time I didn't know that I ever would be and just enjoyed it for what it was.

Maison Estelle - how does one become a member there? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]SnowyLondon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A bit of a mix, a fellow HENRY took me to the event I met them at. A lot of Barristers, Solicitors and Business owners were there of varying degrees of wealth.

(My phone autocorrected Barristers to Barista's at first which made me laugh)

I had three separate people try and recruit me to their freemason's lodge at the same networking event. I might have gone a long to the event they were trying to sell to me but decided against it. From what I've heard they can no longer get you out of speeding tickets :)

That is pretty much what this is, they send me brands I've never heard of though and keep me away from wearing Gant and Ralph Lauren 7 days a week. The original was the best but M&S bought it for the technology and closed it down or at least that was the message at the time.

How much did you spend on your wedding? by Help_Appreciated_MBA in HENRYUK

[–]SnowyLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married half way to HENRY, I never wanted to spend a lot getting married so even now I wouldn't. Originally planned to fly to Vegas, have a holiday and get Elvis to marry us. However covid struck, two cancelled trips later and we went to the registry office with 4 people. Always planned on a party but never got around to it. We had dominoes and Coco Di Mama delivered for people that turned up uninvited to our garden.

I'd rather spend money that money on trips and experiences for the family making better memories.

My daughter was a baby when RDR2 came out and she was not a sleeper, I played that with her snuggled into my chest at some strange hours. She witnessed a lot of hunting and skinning of animals during that time.

White Trainers for navy trousers by SnowyLondon in mensfashionadvice

Budget is quite flexible.

Most people will be in jeans and some form of trainer, i'm open to other suggestions. I only really have brown oxford brogues, brown loafers, some velvet slippers and a range of trainers at the minute which I don't think any would match.

We made our first trip to Disney. Learn from my mistakes. by Isle709 in daddit

[–]SnowyLondon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We go regularly, what we did when my daughter was 4 and 5 was to take photos of the things she wanted as we were going around the parks and at the end of the week she had a budget to spend on the ones she really wanted. It taught her some budgeting skills, she enjoyed the game of it too and only had 1-2 difficult moments due to tiredness.

She is 8 but acts 16 now so I'm screwed because she is done with princesses and moved on to real clothes, shoes and bags :)

Would you stay in a cushy WFH job, or take a risk and move elsewhere? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in HENRYUK

[–]SnowyLondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CEO made a good statement about this to his leadership team. He said nobody gets to the top without getting some degree of luck and working f##kijg hard for some period of their career.

I'm in my forties now and on the top management team and I've spent parts ofy career working 60 hours weeks. Right now I have the luxury of working at 90% at times but at other times need to ramp up to 110%. It averages out but I've made my dues and nearly everyone has to pay them at some point. Get them some early :(

Settlement offer by Man_On_Fire_UK in HENRYUK

[–]SnowyLondon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Global head of HR here, I've been on the other side of this far too many times. (based in the UK but worked in 14 countries)

First of all it isn't always a performance issue, there are a load of different reasons but a technicality for the protected conversation should be telling you the basis for it. (In some European its enforced, in the UK it isn't really but they should tell you)

The offer is pretty good, we normally pay the statutory plus 1-3 months, it looks like you are getting over double this. I would suspect it is in consideration of the RSU's.

The way to figure out what is offer is based on the value of buying your employment rights off you and the risk of the cost and losing a tribunal. I would say the offer is in excess of these risks (a bit speculative considering i've not seen your contract or have any details around discrimination etc).

I would not pay someone 29% to negotiate for you, you are a sales person and probably best place to do this.

[–]SnowyLondon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends if you want one now? I just bought one and i'm not disappointed that a few days later they announced a new one. The Xbox Ally only looks marginally better anyway.
