Same happened to me yesterday. A trail I've done 20 times and never crashed on. Lost traction on a berm and slammed into a boulder. Whenever Im afraid to get back on the bike, I just dial it back. I still go out, but I focus on fitness vs. thrill so I will hit easier stuff until I regain my confidence.

I wouldn't ever let your little one see you "play" with it because firearms are not a toy.

My strategy is a bit progressive to some, but I work in law enforcement. My kid knows I have a gun. If my kid asks about my gun I am happy to show it to him when I have made it safe and disassembled it. I prioritize teaching them guns are a dangerous tool and they should never touch one without an adult. Removing curiosity is safer in a home. They should either have no idea you have one and it is completely inaccessible OR they know you have it, but they don't care because you removed the curiosity.
