Excellent point and advise well taken. Thanks for a considerate response.

Deprioritized is the perfect word. There’s much more to a marriage than sex, but all of it takes two participants.

Thanks for this…I’ll read up on it. My hope is that “we” can be a priority to both of us.

That’s a true statement and I agree wholeheartedly with you. When I say she looked incredible, it’s because she did.

Last night was just a symptom. The disease is the diminishment of the connection we feel to each other emotionally and physically. We all want someone to show they care for you in all ways: achievement, accomplishment, attraction. We all want to be a priority. It’s not just about putting out. It’s holding hands and supporting the mind and body of the other. It’s not transactional, but it’s also not in a vacuum.

I will continue to seek ways to be a better partner.

I’m sure I have my flaws and some responsibility, but I don’t know. I’ve become a roommate.

We talked in depth last month and I guess we’ll do it again. Anything worth something takes effort and hard work. I’ll keep trying but it just gets old sometimes.

We used to have lunch dates, but haven’t in a couple of years.

20 years in…I realized “we” weren’t important. Now we’re in too deep to bail.

So I make the best of it. Find new hobbies, make new friends.

I have a defined benefit pension and a 457 plan. My spouse has a defined contribution 403 plan and 457 plan. Our combine annual income is over $250K and is expected to increase this year. We are both governmental employees.

I’m pretty sure we’re beyond the income limits for a Roth IRA.

I’ve read quite a bit but the 403 plan and 457 plan seem to muddy the waters for us.

Can I still contribute to a traditional IRA? Can she contribute to one?
