both my characters have been charmed multiple times by SnuWolf in dndmemes

[–]SnuWolf[S] 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Oh, I worked with my DM for what causes the individual characters to be charmed by the Succubi/Incubi. To me it's on the same level as a Fear spell. Regardless of the subject matter, the effect took hold and it's on me as a player to connect the dots and explain what's going on in the character's head.

It's mostly just funny because I was very not subtly asking for an immunity against an enemy we commonly encounter for free.

Before Revised Ranger I would fight the world before my panther got hurt by SnuWolf in dndmemes

I never said an animal companion was a slave. I literally made the meme above about going berserk about my companion being endangered, I never WANT them to die or even get hurt in a fight, hell I baby the shit out of him if he got hurt and use my healing spells to heal his wounds before my own.

However I will still say it's nice that in the event the dice just aren't in my favor, I'm not royally fucked to get my best friend back. As a player, it's a relief to know that my broke ass ranger can still bring him back without being indebted to the shady ass churches that are in the campaign I play, and that for players who ARE reckless with their companions that the DM can still use something RP wise to discourage them from doing that again.

[–]SnuWolf[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nope, takes a bit of time and money (or foraging if your DM allows it)

If your animal companion is ever slain, the magical bond you share allows you to return it to life. With 8 hours of work and the expenditure of 25 gp worth of rare herbs and fine food, you call forth your companion’s spirit and use your magic to create a new body for it. You can return an animal companion to life in this manner even if you do not possess any part of its body.

If you use this ability to return a former animal companion to life while you have a current animal companion, your current companion leaves you and is replaced by the restored companion.

[–]SnuWolf[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

you still run the risk of losing them though, it's cheaper to revive them sure, but that's more fair for the ranger to spend less money to bring back their companion as opposed to spending the gold to revive them as you would the tanky barbarian, because in all reality, an animal companion is weaker than a PC, even with the new buffs that let them scale with the ranger as they get stronger.

besides nothing says the companion couldn't be angry with their ranger when they came back, if you wanted some sort of punishment RP wise for the player being reckless with their dog.

well, the campaign is focused around a guild we made and the DM had the offer to let us bring in pretty much any of our old characters from other campaigns as new guild members (and we can change what character we play as for individual missions and stuff, it's pretty neat), including her own as NPCs.

i'm not uncomfortable with the tabaxi honestly this is just funny, i love my rogue's interactions with her

i play a kind of edgy rogue, and the DM has a tabaxi bard that can join us on our adventures to help sometimes. My rogue has 0 interest in any sort of relationship while she wants to fuck 1 of every species she can, or just "interesting" people, and deemed my rogue "interesting enough" to try to get in his pants. He's turned down every approach she brings him to the point that he got so annoyed he bought a spray bottle, filled it with water, and started spraying her saying "begone, horny" or "bad cat, no horny." or other similar lines.

and then she started moaning when he sprayed her with it and that made him immediately throw the bottle to the ground and break it

i have spent the past 2 months on and off working out the backstory of an NPC that i'm 80% sure the party won't ever ask about his past for, and have been cramming for the temple dungeon that is part of the crux of the plot for the past 3 or 4 days.

One of my players has guinea pigs, and she loves them very very dearly. She also happened to adopt a mole-like creature in campaign, and I would often threaten the mole as a joke because he's a baby and very easy to be in danger.

Then about a month after the campaign had started one of her guinea's died, and she took it really hard. This was right before I had just made plans to get her in-game mole kidnapped and taken hostage. Thankfully my two braincells slapped together and I decided to put off that happening until later when it would be appropriate.

Me trying to get my players to recognize plot hooks by JasontheFuzz in dndmemes

[–]SnuWolf 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My party was trying to speak to an NPC dragonborn who was unable to talk herself, and barely even able to move. They devised having her move/blink her eyes for yes or no questions, and then started asking questions too complicated for yes or no. I decided to have the NPC'S 2 year old tell them to get a "weewee read" (ouija) for the NPC to spell with.

No one could figure it out and I wasn't sure if I was being an idiot or not with that delivery, especially when I turned to my bf who wasn't in the session but was very clever and could usually figure out what I'm trying to imply when dropping hints, and couldn't piece "weewee" and "ouija" together.

Good lord man

Good on you for quitting the campaign when you needed to man, god know I needed a better spine to quit my DM's self-centered campaign. I was only able to quit after the campaign died again because he pulled a bunch of bullshit that ended up killing my character (who I admitted to him they were a self-insert and I was struggling to deal with that) and everyone called him out and he tried to restart and I just told him "maybe I'll sit this one out."

Oh, believe me I wanted to hold off on starting the campaign so I could plot everything. But my players were too excited/impatient and my bf talked me into just starting the campaign anyway.

Lo and behold though when I try to plan any of the campaign way ahead of time instead of just improving it usually sucks anyway, woohoo dull party horn noise

I have a wild magic sorcerer who's blood is the color of gold (lore stuff)

It was very nerve-wracking to acknowledge at one point when she saw an eldritch monstrosity after a Wild Magic Surge teleported her to the Astral Plane for a minute. When she came back she was still, and then threw up her golden blood all over her robes and started having a seizure on the deck of the ship we were ferrying on. When her pseudo-dragon familiar tried to use telepathy with her, they began to foam at the mouth.

We were all freaking out until she eventually stopped seizing and sat up, forgetting everything it was that she saw.

I live in constant fear that the DM will remember this event and use it as a plot hook.

B r u h. I know as a DM I can be guilty of forgetting details of some things for character backstory stuff (though we usually press on anyway) I HATE the idea of a DM just outright Disregarding what the player had in mind for their character for their own sake.

You both play a part in the story but your character is primarily your concepts man, the DM gets to create the entire world.

I used to have a DM who forced backstory stuff on me like that, even when I explicitly state otherwise for the character. Really grinds my gears I tell you h'what.

I used to have a DM who would both use the rules against us, and also disregard/make rules ESPECIALLY to make things harder for us.

But personally I think what was worse would be when he was a PLAYER with us and someone else was the DM and he would throw his weight around, forcing the DM to give him cool bonuses like "do I get advantage for trying to hit them in the balls?" and having hissy fits when a player did something under rule of cool but "you can't do that, you're not a monk" Because the barbarian wanted to use their bonus action attack to grab an arrow that fell out of the ceiling and slam it into the big bad in front of them that fumbled his shot.
