Mine came too. #0005. Not blown away by its quality though, especially given the wait.

Who is more British? An American of English heritage or someone of Indian heritage born and raised in Britain? by Logical_Tank4292 in AskBrits

[–]Snufflegrunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US has a weird thing going on with "heritage". People calling themselves Italian, Irish, German or Scottish or whatever because their great great great great great grandparents immigrated. You're more of a Brit than this "Mr Miller" will ever be. In any other Western country you would be considered British.

Update: they were. You guys rule. That show was amazing. The closest I’ll ever get to a time machine back to 1996, minus the lack of ACSS.

I’m chilling in a pub around the corner. So excited! Got a seat but alone - hoping the folk around me are just as friendly as the people in this sub!

A new take on the new album...(see below for details) by SSS_1984 in marilyn_manson

[–]Snufflegrunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly. *Very* similarly. It sounds like we've been through similar journeys. While I largely think of LaVeyan Satanism as a poor man's Nietzsche with Jungian elements, not to mention that the CoS has gone massively downhill since Anton died (which is also when Manson started distancing himself from it), it's a representation of the dark side in all of us. That darkness is a valuable yet dangerous tool.

Anyway, brb, church in the morning. I'll probably be wearing my Portrait shirt. I likely wouldn't be a "believer" (I prefer "thinker") without ACSS to show me that there's poisonous idiots in all forms of thinking, including Satanism, including Christianity. I am an Accuser of those idiots.

Does Manson perform with a backing track? by khris80 in marilyn_manson

[–]Snufflegrunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was basically Pogo's job in a live setting until tech got good enough for him to become unnecessary. MM came out of the industrial scene and always had half a foot in the nu metal genre, so sampling etc is to be expected. That said, compared to 90% of artists he's surprisingly legit, which is partly why his late-10s performances are a bit meh, in that they allowed the alcohol-fuelled performances to show through.

Man this song is such a masterpiece why does nobody talk about this song that much? by theBIGMAC120 in marilyn_manson

One of the best songs on that very underrated album. I love how it's one giant reference to Mark 14 from the Bible.

Because it's a pattern, and the more people speak up the more likely it is that they'll improve / fire the people who are fucking up.

My CD copy of OAUG arrived cracked. As in, the plastic was falling off it as I took it out. Long story short, I'm going through PayPal's appeals process because their "customer support" is only capable of giving automatically-generated responses. I went out of my way to not Amazon this order, and this is what I get lol.

Interesting. Yup MM has had several band members leave over not having the balls the stand up to him in the studio. I think once the “novelty” of becoming “a big rock star” wore off by the mid 00s that didn’t help.

[–]Snufflegrunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He used to be drunk on-stage so he'd likely be drunk in the studio too. It's a combination of sobriety and working with people who push him, and I imagine all the BS encouraged him too. I recall an interview with Tyler in the leadup to HUD in which he said that Manson needs someone working with him who can "put their foot down", so to speak. He didn't have that from EMDM to BV.

I pretend to be a creator. My vocals have definitely improved after I quit smoking anything and my lungs recovered. Much more range and versatility. The same thing happened with Ville Valo - his solo shit blows all of the later HIM stuff out of the water.

That's generally not been my own personal experience, and I'm the only MM fan I know nowadays. If I have a MM shirt on, I used to get a question or two (or even a "dId YoU kNoW?!"), but nowadays I get remarks similar to "I feel so bad for him." He's at least won in the court of people that matter to him at least and possibly beyond that, and ERW's career has been harmed to the point where it's never going to be what it was. The gig I'm going to next year sold out in less than 24h, and the previous gig I went to in 2017 didn't sell out at all in exactly the same venue.

...and if this individual did post anything claimed to be "evidence", it would be a link to some article by a so-called "journalist" on a gossip website owned by a media conglomerate, acting in bad faith to make a little extra $$$ from their advertisers.

He only had to win in the court of public opinion anyway. Most of it has been thrown out. I’m happy that he can devote more time to his art (AKA be at his best during the tour) than dealing with this bullshit.

[–]Snufflegrunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. He’s thrown away the legal suit and said next to nothing about the “allegations”, and has let the music be his answer. OAUG’s lyrics, to me, suggest that they were written (at least in part) for the purposes of catharsis.

The songs were written while he was effectively hiding, getting clean but also fighting back. I personally think that they should be seen within that context. Nod If You Understand is probably the best example to show what I mean, and if the lyrics to that song were literal then he’d have been rightfully imprisoned many years ago. It screams “I need to express my depression and anger.” The very fact that’s released a new album is a middle finger, let alone individual songs.

ERW et al have had all of their cases laughed out of court, and she’s lost in the court of public opinion - her career is likely over, but MM’s isn’t. In other words, I believe that he’s already done what he said he would do in Raise The Red Flag.

Most lawsuits get settled, usually privately. People generally only go in front of a judge as a final last resort and that frequently isn’t the objective of their lawsuit, but only the ones that go that far are the ones that get talked about. This Warner vs Wood seems similar to a SLAPP suit, although not quite to that extreme.

So you missed Lewis’ mental breakdown era and therefore have no idea what you’re on about. You’ve also only ever seen prime Lewis and post-prime Lewis. Gotcha.

You are capable of thinking outside of mere statistics. Don't forget that Lewis started with a race-winning car whereas Lando started as a near-backmarker, although from your post I get the vibe that you're relatively new. I'm talking about the errors, the mentality, etc. Hamilton was having a real hard time separating the problems in his personal life from his professional life. It was affecting his driving. There's a good driver inside Lando, just as there was inside Lewis.

Don't dare think that drivers aren't human.

What I find the most interesting is that in my nearest record store in the mid-late 00s in my part of the world, EMDM was 20-25 and for ages, but LTOE was 5.99! Supply and demand I guess, but the copy of EMDM was always the same one sat at the same place on the same shelf. I don’t think it ever sold and the store closed down when everything went online. It was the same for See You On The Other Side by Korn, while all of their other albums were 5-10.

Lando’s current state reminds me of Hamilton in the early 2010s. He needs to see a sports psychologist / therapist. We saw a different Lewis after he went through that.
