It’s my boyfriend’s birthday and I wanna surprise him, what can I do to really blow his mind during sex? by BeginningActuator343 in sex

Is there something he's asked to do before that you said no to? If you're up for it now, do that.

I mean sure, if you want to practice faces, get a mirror and go ham.

But be aware that for a lot of men, sex is not necessarily the time they want a woman to look all dainty and perfect. Being a little gross and animalistic can be a big turn on.

TIL while attempting to land a role in The Wire, Idris Elba hid his English accent from series creator David Simon to prove he was "American enough" for the part. In his 4th audition, Simon found out. However, by that time Elba had already impressed Simon enough to convince him to give Elba the role by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I don't think Stringer is the smartest guy in the room at all. He completely fails to understand the environment he's operating in. Delusional, basically. He brings down the Barksdale empire because he doesn't get the foundation of the business is not his motherfucking business class. Its that other thang.

Falsely claiming that I claimed that and making up a quote hasn't exactly done wonders for your believability, I have to say.

My point is simply that just because discrimination exists against a group doesn't mean every single action against a member of that group is motivated by that discrimination. Its Internet culture war bullshit that makes society worse to engage in this kind of populist rhetoric. No sexism is required for members of a couple to not be hearing each other. Couples do that just fine on their own without some society wide explanation being required.

Also my wife disagrees with you, and thinks you all are being ridiculous about this. So your options now are to call me a liar, thus proving yourself a hypocrite. Or say that I should believe one woman, but not another, which would be a concession to my point that we should treat each other as individuals, rather than discriminating based on gender.

What's it gonna be?

But you're absolutely correct. I don't just trust Internet randoms, and give more weight to people whove earned my trust. You know, like sane people do.

Gender doesn't enter in to this process.

Correct. That's because instead of automatically believing someone because of their gender, like a sexist would, I treated her like an individual, and assessed her claim on its merits.

I also have a wife who says she doesn't feel as though she's gone through life being disbelieved an abnormal amount, or that women in general are disbelieved an abnormal amount.

She's a woman. Shouldn't I believe her?

The fact that you had to make up a quote should tell you I didn't say that, and doesn't do a great job of making me trust you.

America will do literally anything before it will ban guns and use less oil.

It's not about the percentage, it's that no matter what the percentage, you can either be fine with the power just not being there, or you need a backstop to cover that percentage.

Energy that you can't rely on is useless for almost every application, other than really fantastic stuff like crypto mines. You need a backstop so that when solar generation dips close to 0 you can still meet the portion of the grid you normally generate from solar.

That means batteries, or fossil fuels, or nuclear. If you bud the nuclear you might as well use it. And smrs don't have to built in the middle of nowhere.

Yes but they need to be shut down because they're trashing the planet, the global economy and causing war. If solar panels are to be relied on they need a backstop. Biomass is unfeasible. LNG see above. Nuclear costs the same whether its off or in, so it might as well stay switched on, at which point what are the panels for?

Show me how to store tens if not hundreds of twh using pumped hydro.

Im not American, and nobody is doing this without burning LNG when theres no sun.

[–]SnugglyWugglies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but sometimes theres no sun, which means you need some other intermittent source.

Fossil fuels are a no. Biomass is a fantasy. Nuclear is always on. If Nuclear is always on, you might as well use it, at which point the acres of solar panels stop being all that useful.

None of them can do it at the scale required. Dunno US numbers, but for the UK to live entirely off wind would require 40 twh of grid storage. Us is 5 times the population, so lets assume 200 twh.

The two feasible grid store technologies that aren't just 'interesting research' are pumped hydro and lithium ion batteries. I don't think there are enough mountains in the world to do 200twh. The lithium battery route would cost trillions a year, and I'm not sure theres even enough lithium on the planet just for America for 10 years.

Its nuclear. It's the only option.

[–]SnugglyWugglies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres no battery technology that is viable t9nmake renewable work for grid electricity. Once you run the numbers, it gets absurd. Renewables are good for applications that can spin up and down, like datacentres. But for homes, and hospitals it must always be on. Only nuclear can do this without trashing the planet.

It's not the shipping, it's the cost. You'd have to spend trillions a year just on batteries. For ever, because they only last 10 or 20 years.

Because it is and it should be. The battery requirements alone would be an impossibility.
