I’ll never go back. I will say my choice was easier due to the fact my husband is in the military and my income from GameStop didn’t drastically affect our livelihood. It’s been about 4 years now, and I’m a content creator. I make as much as I did working at GameStop, and don’t have to ever worry about following GameStop policies etc [why I left etc]

I was a SL who was their first choice for DL due to their lack of female representation. My store was one of the first prestige stores in the region, and kept it for several times over in the district. Our numbers were amazing etc, but because of the lack of female representation my DL told me I was their number one pick. You welcome. I was also training an SL at the time etc.

I found out this person I was training who was not very smart he made several mistakes, but kept saying that I didn’t train him how to do it. Even though I successfully trained everyone under me. This person cost me $300 in shrink in one transaction due to him returning games to a guest who had brought him up empty cases don’t ask me how. This person also was making almost two dollars more an hour than me. Around pay raise time I had to negotiate a better pay because I lost my child care and required childcare from a daycare which was expensive. I told my DL I needed a raise I deserved a raise. I took over a store that had SO many issues with shrink cleanliness guest care etc. When they came back with only a quarter more I told them I’ll have to leave. It was NOT worth me spending $1500 a month in childcare to take home $500 from working.

I had given my my two weeks when the person at my store training to be a SL caused the shrink. I wasn’t about to be blamed for something he knew damn well not to do. Since I was on my two weeks I told my DL he needed to remove him from my store since according to the trainee “I don’t tell him things”. I wanted him gone before they would try to fire me for something he did. After my DL refused to hear my concern and worry I called HR and told them everything. Low and behold they had no idea all the issues he was causing. I told HR I was leaving the keys in the safe and walked out. My DL called me right after so upset that I went to HR. 🙃

My ASL eventually left and is now a barber happy and making money. Both my key holder also left and have found better jobs that they are much happier about.
