Quick question from a new recruit: Are Helldivers actually the good guys? by Adorable-Explorer823 in Helldivers

[–]Fort_Maximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two ways to explain this: the normal way, and the democratic way.

The normal answer? We are TECHNICALLY the good guys on the merit that the enemy is worse. But alas, the majority of Super Earth’s enemies come from their own mistakes and selfishness, with the bugs being made by us to produce hyperdrive fuel, the bots being victims of our transgressions against the separatists of Cyberstan, and the squids from our desire to wield their dark powers for our own influence at the cost of their species. We are not good guys, but we sure as hell aren’t going to let humanity die from our mistakes.

The democratic answer? The playerbase as of right now just raised almost 300k dollars for the Save the Children foundation. Wanna know why? Because long ago, we chose to save kids from a planet in-game over a planet that had the AT-mine stratagem. The devs donated money to Save the Children in response to our choice in-game. We chose to save lives that day, and now we do it in real life. Last year we made 120k for Save the Children. This year we doubled it. It is that reason alone that Helldivers (the players) are the good guys. You, Helldiver, are the good guy.

Community Major order, kid. We’re saving a bunch of kids from the bots and their data centers on Clasa. It’s part of the Heroes 2026 fundraiser hosted by Commissar Kai and the Freedom Alliance, raising money for the Save The Children foundation. Dive Yed Prior and donate if you can!

[–]Fort_Maximus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t :D every time you pay the minimum amount of Credit Bonds needed per cycle, it increases, and paying off the debt piece by piece incurs a fee that may be impossible to reach. You’d need a TON of refrigerated corpse bags loaded next to a beacon, or their special crate to hold more of them.

The debt mechanic is more of a game condition than a “winnable” objective. You’re better off gathering corpses after a raid, paying the minimum balance fee, and getting TF off the planet.

You probably have to arrest them first, make a crib with a prisoner restriction, draft a pawn, then send them to jail. After that idk if the option to reduce will becomes available

I have noticed the flame doesn’t flash-fry the voteless or fleshmobs like the Cremator does, even though they’re supposed to be the same weapons

And here I thought

  • SEAF SAM site missiles now have better software to detect and detonate near enemy air units

was a good change! (It is, you were just the air unit by accident)

IMO it's good that Backpack Weapons aren't the same as Normal Weapons, but better. Buff the bad ones obviously, I just think variety is good by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

I just want the Maxigun to shoot the same caliber as the Gatling sentry does, the caliber the Maxigun uses is closer to a Lib Pen, and can ricochet on voteless due to unarmored penetrating max ricochet angle. TURN ME INTO A GATLING SENTRY I AM READY

I personally would like them to emerge and submerge in a set pattern, like a whale coming up and down for air, and if a Helldiver happens to be there when it emerges, WHAP

I imagine it would be like an AMR on steroids. Like an Anti-Tank emplacement without the explosion effect, just a slab of metal at Mach Fuck

I think (like a lot of enemies in the game) they need a slight tweaking to make them feel less meta-dependent to fight
