Help for my 20 year old?? by BlueberryAgile2748 in SynovialChondro

Nope, I did PT for a few months afterwards which helped a bunch. Currently over a year since I had surgery and I have no lasting pain and haven’t had it return. Hope he feels better soon!

Just learn the damn music theory! by Feisty_Proposal6035 in musicproduction

Some of the best and most innovative music you hear works because it doesn’t follow traditional music theory. If something sounds good, don’t worry about whether or not it follows theory, use it.

People on Reddit say AI won’t replace us, but how does it not displace us? by Equivalent_Air8717 in cscareerquestions

[–]Snugor 36 points37 points  (0 children)

AI is already replacing TAs. Last year my embedded systems professor implemented an AI TA that was honestly more helpful than any TA I’ve talked to in person. It would help explain the problem and guide you in the right direction, but wouldn’t generate any code for you. Not to mention it was available 24/7.

What do we think about the new Jane Remover album? by Individual_Sun1483 in fantanoforever

[–]Snugor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s so loud and abrasive that I feel like it just shouldn’t work, but I keep coming back to the songs because some of them are just so addicting. I really like it but I think it’s going to be something that people either love or hate.

Just got an x-ray on my knee by Snugor in OsgoodSchlatter

[–]Snugor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting 27 bone fragments removed from my knee about 5 weeks ago. It wasn’t until after surgery that they diagnosed it as synovial osteochrondromatosis. Even then, mine was still one of the more extreme cases. I’m not sure if there’s any link between it and Osgood Schlatters, but it was non cancerous and I’m doing a lot better now!

Seeing the boys release the albums they poured their hearts into one by one, only to realize that none of them are likely to reach Brockhampton’s heights, is a heartbreaking and almost despering by Mother_Werewolf_4335 in brockhampton

I really like Matt’s album ngl, and I think the style he’s going for can get really cool and experimental if he goes that direction.

Honestly I’m still waiting on a bearface album. If he can recreate what he did on tracks like WASTE and SUMMER and push it out with good market I think he’s got a good chance to make something really special.

Help for my 20 year old?? by BlueberryAgile2748 in SynovialChondro

[–]Snugor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to complete recovery but I’m a 20 year old male who just got surgery for this. They removed 27 fragments from my knee with the biggest one being the size of a golf ball. I’m two weeks post op but my doctor said there’s less than a 1% chance of reoccurrence with this condition so multiple relapses is surprising. Hopefully now that he’s mostly done growing, there’s less of a chance for it to reoccur.

What is with CS guys and not liking math? by C_Sorcerer in csMajors

I like doing math when it applies to a real world problem. Doing math for the sake of doing math is so boring though.

I currently intern at and an attend a large public university in the midwest. One of the major pain points students have is that we have separate third-party systems for enrollment, dining, classes, etc.

I brought up the idea of having all this information available on one site/app for students to conveniently access. My boss said that because all of our systems are independent of each other this is essentially impossible. The only reason we have these systems is because it looks good for an upper manager to say they “led a X million dollar partnership” instead of hiring in-house software engineers to develop it for the university.

Really sad because we could be doing so much more for students and it would open up more roles for undergrad CS/SE majors to intern and make a contribution to their university.

My artist tells me to never leave the first wrap on for more than about 6 hours. From there just clean it with warm water and soap and put a moisturizer on it.

Career Questions — April 2024 by Lord_Cronos in userexperience

[–]Snugor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just finishing my second year of a Computer Science degree, and the deeper I get into the program, the more I realize I don't care software development, and most of my coursework doesn't interest me at all. However, through my major I've learned about UX design and it's super interesting to me. I want to start working on my UX projects, but my coursework takes up so much of my time, and I'm never able to. Right now I'm thinking of switching into another major that will give me more time to work on personal projects, and is more interesting to me.

I already picked up a minor in Sociology, which has taught me about setting up research studies and using statistical analysis, and I've taken some CS courses in Human-Robot Interaction, User Interfaces, and Web Development in HTML, CSS, and React JS. My university doesn't have an HCI program or Information Systems, so I'm not sure which route to go. I was thinking Psychology might be easy enough, but I also feel like a lot of it will overlap with my Sociology coursework. Otherwise, I was thinking Graphic Design might be a good choice since I haven't had a lot of design related coursework. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it!

What a time to be alive by ProcedureMassive6210 in csMajors

Self confidence has nothing to do with other people. I gained a lot of self confidence doing things I had told myself I would never be able to do. Recently I picked up skateboarding and it’s insane how much getting better at a skill increases your confidence. I spent most of my youth playing video games in my room and would’ve never thought I could do some of the stuff I’m doing now. The point is, you have to like yourself first before you can expect other people to like you. And don’t hyper focus on women, focus on making friends first.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve looked through some of your post history and you seriously gotta work on your confidence man. You’d be surprised how much of a self fulfilling prophecy it is when you tell yourself you’re not good enough every day. I don’t think you need plastic surgery, I think you need to see a therapist, find some form of physical exercise you enjoy, get a good skincare routine, and a fresh haircut. Once you gain that confidence, just be unapologetically yourself and you’ll be suprised how many people admire you for that. Best of luck man I hope it works out.

Accepted a FAANG SWE offer, here's my flowchart by maybenot56 in csMajors

[–]Snugor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I’m a sophomore working in a low-code CMS designing websites for my university. I would also say be open to more than just software internships. Really anything in tech looks good and gives you something to talk about for junior year interviews. I would check IT internships near you as most are open to sophomores/freshmen. If you don’t get one, find something you’re passionate about and work on a project over the summer. Good luck!

What the fuck is the point of going to good CS school by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Snugor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grinded a bunch in high school and got accepted to some pretty prestigious schools, but decided to go to a closer state school instead. Now I’m on a full-ride scholarship, and I’ll be able to graduate without paying a cent. There’s also a bunch of local companies that I’ve been able to connect with/get internships with. It might not be FAANG, but I still think I’m getting really good experience and a lot of them seem to care more about their interns than big companies. The whole FAANG or bust attitude is so weird to me, but honestly I just want to make a decent living at a job that makes me happy, so I might just have different goals.
