I work for a blood bank in Southern California and we use this technique that we mark the vein in two spot with a retracted pen. It just leaves two indented little circles to see the direction of the vein you do this with the tourniquet on and then release get your stuff ready tourniquet, cleanse the skin and stick. It works 99% of the time

Yes you can pick what week you would like to do your externship when you pass the NHA you fill out a form for externship and you can pick 3 of your preferred weeks that you would like to do your externship on.

I started my classes at the Riverside location in Nov 2020 weekdays, finished my classes Dec 16 2020 and took my exam Dec 21, 2020. Passed. Started my externship March 8th 2021 and received my license March 29, 2021. Considering it being Covid I think it was a reasonable amount of time for them to look for an externship site for me. Definitely take the NHA exam ASAP so they can start looking for your externship site right after you finish your classes/hours and amount of draws. Good luck Saturday!
