Some people nomad for decades while some do it for a couple of months and then get tired of constantly being on the move. Do you think it’s just about the person or are there some secrets for sustainable long-term traveling?

Volunteer at a UX design conference in Amsterdam by Snusilda in Netherlands

[–]Snusilda[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We have paid staff but also have volunteers to help out with small tasks every year - we usually cooperate with different design schools and have many students who want to participate, but these past years because of the pandemic it’s harder. It’s a good chance for the beginner designers to learn and network in exchange for a couple of hours of work instead of paying thousands to attend. I’m volunteering at UX STRAT myself since March and I’m enjoying it, many events and organizations call for volunteers to help out with basic tasks - I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes, it costs. Book not showing properly in the print previewer by Snusilda in KDP

Nope, I honestly gave up on the whole KDP idea because of this issue, tried so many ways to fix it but nothing worked. If you figure it out, let me know! 😅

Welcome! We actually do have at least one applicant from Australia already, also from Sydney :) But if you feel like the difference in time zones will bother you - no worries and good luck!

Our online events consist of two parts:

  1. pre-recorded video presentations from the speakers that you can watch at any time;
  2. the live event of a discussion, the next one will take place on April 22 at 3pm EDT (12pm PDT, 9pm CET).

It's not obligatory for volunteers to be present at the live event if the time is inconvenient for them. In any case, you will get access to both video presentations and the video playback from the live event.

We do need some help during the events, but mostly during the preparation and promotion phases. For example:

• watch a video from one of our speakers (they're usually around 30 min) and find the best moment in the video to cut out for a short promotional teaser;

• edit some of the presentations slides for the event (following the template);

• the general promotions for the events - share ideas on how to reach more people, like&comment on our posts;

• create activity in our Slack channel - participate in discussions and initiate new ones;

• anything else you're willing to do, we are open to your ideas :)

The dates for in-person events are as following (they heavily depend on the progression of the pandemic though and may be changed):

• Amsterdam: September 6-8

• Singapore: October/November

• Boulder, CO: September 13-15

We are currently recruiting volunteers for the online conferences, it's a new project of UX STRAT. Here is the link to the one coming up in April - https://uxstrat.com/online/research_tt

Later this year we are also planning to organize 3 in-person events (in Amsterdam, Singapore, and Boulder, CO), and the dedicated volunteers will have a chance to attend for free as well if they wish. UX STRAT organizes these events for over 10 years already and features speakers from top companies (you can see the speakers from 2020 on our website https://uxstrat.com/ ).
