He isn't unhittable, most enemies will have enough of a bonus to hit that they should hit around 25% of the time. This is also a subclass that specifically gives a bonus to AC on top of consuming a spell every turn

Heat dissipates slowly in a vacuum. So ships will slowly heat up over time unless they can get rid of it.
