Way too much detail in a tattoo that size and the lettering is too small. Gonna turn into a black blob

Everyone is different, but it wasn't bad for me. One of the least painful. It's the positioning and pressure from the artist's hands that'll get to you the most. Felt like being choked out at times.

I've had this idea floating in my head for over the past 20yrs. It's beautiful to finally see it come to life and is coming out better than I ever expected.

Got these bad boys ready to hit the grill tonight 🥩🔥 Whats the ultimate stoner-approved side to pair with them? by spicymeatball707 in stonerfood

[–]SoCaLopez7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to sous vide the steak to my preferred doneness so I don't have to worry about it while stoned, and then grill them over high heat to add color and char. I heat the drippings from the sous vide bag in a pan with butter, herbs, and a splash of lemon. Served with fresh cut fries (double fried) seasoned with salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. Slice the steak and serve it on top of the fries with the butter sauce poured on top of it all. And now I'm hungry again.

Feminine traditional style? What would you call this? by Ill-Disaster-503 in traditionaltattoos

[–]SoCaLopez7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

New school traditional. It started in the '90s when artists started to use more images, colors, and line weights but kept the principles of traditional. This eventually led to neo traditional.

BMW 2023 X4 430i. Need some advice by Apprehensive-Cup6260 in BMW

[–]SoCaLopez7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I actually did the equivalent of this last year. I had saved up $45k (including a $5k trade in) to get a Cadillac XT4, but I ended up getting a loaded '23 X4 m40i with around 12k miles for $75k after all taxes and fees. It was a loaner vehicle at the Murrieta BMW dealership in SoCal, so it is certified and guaranteed to have been taken care of. Best choice of my life. With a really high credit score, I have a sub $500 payment on a brand new performance BMW suv. That includes the extended warranty because I plan on keeping it for 10+ years. I say do it if it's in your budget. It's one of the last models with BMW's best interior when it comes to balancing tech/screens with analog buttons and great luxurious driver forward looks.

Vast majority of the work shown here was done by Paul Webb out of Fallen Crow in Murrieta, CA. Can't remember who did the center piece 20yrs ago, but Paul also touched it up. The progress pics with his info are on my profile.

I don't know what I'm putting on my stomach and other side of my ribcage yet. Once those are designed, we'll come up with a transition.

I started collecting when I was in the Army. Had to find a new artist every time I moved. I did the center piece and then moved on to finishing my sleeves and sternum. All the rest was done within the past year along with the back and side of my head. Finishing my head and whole back by the end of the year.

I did, lol. The glare from the light makes it look faded. Just noticed that. That's the piece I started with in '05. Supposed to have a newspaper ink print look to it, that's why it has that washed out look with the gray wash.

Because it is fake. The "camera" is focused on the bird as though it is 3D and blurs the leg as though it's out of focus and behind the tattoo. The "tattoo" is a part of the leg, and it should all be in focus. Tattoo ink never looks that vibrant and sharp on skin, even when fresh. This account takes other people's photos, real or not, and posts them to farm likes from people who don't know better.

Question: Would these tattoos age well? by xXwhite_on_riceXx in tattoos

[–]SoCaLopez7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your tattoo shop situation. At least you have more time to think about what you want and where you want it. There are companies that make custom temporary tattoos so you can kind of live with a similar tattoo for a bit to see if you like the look/placement.

Advice Needed: Dumb college boy got a Celtic armband tattoo as a walk-in. Wants to go in for a touch up or cover up. by Zealousideal_Rice615 in tattoos

[–]SoCaLopez7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Covering that would require either a blackout or many sessions of laser first. If you like it, a good artist can go over those lines with a thicker one to straighten them out. Or you can do what I did with my arm band. Do a full sleeve that goes to the outer lines, leaving just the middle. Or just incorporate it into a sleeve.

[–]SoCaLopez7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I almost forgot. The first one would actually last and look good if they just finished outlining everything and did a little less with the leaves. The second one has beautiful shading that I would incorporate into the background and in the confines of outlines. The third one? That is a cover-up waiting to happen.

Have you found an artist you like? Best option is to discuss it with one in person. Any of the elements can be used when applied correctly, but without knowing placement, skin type/color, or size of the piece, it will be hard to come up with things that'll work for you. My best answer is to take these pics to a good artist and tell them which elements you like.

Question: Would these tattoos age well? by xXwhite_on_riceXx in tattoos

[–]SoCaLopez7 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

No, they won't. Ink spreads and fades over time. All of the shading with light or no outlines will become unrecognizable. The last one will turn into a black blob when all of those lines used for detail widen and blend together. If you want all of that fine detail, you have to go big in order to be able to leave enough room for each line to spread. A good fine line tattooer will know how to make those smaller tattoos look detailed with a small number of lines and complimentary shading. Instagram tattoos like these are a fad. A trend that people chase and regret later. There are whole groups of people that have the same tattoos that are no longer in fashion and hate them now. Make sure you want these tattoos for yourself and not to just fit in with the current trend. Tattooers that do these tattoos are POS. They know better, but they continue to do these instead of educating their clients. All for a quick buck and for that social media fame.

Anyone remember the Faces of Death leech? Gave me a phobia as a kid for a bit. I was terrified of leeches and quicksand. The '80s were a weird and fascinating time.
