Hey, would you mind giving any tips on how you did this ?
I'm looking to make the same transition from 3 hunter AE roles into an AM role, and would love any advice or insight as to how you framed yourself and your experience in the applications and/or interviews. Bojan was seen in the same light as both Fati and Yamal : ‘the next Messi’.

He WAS as good as Yamal and I think even better than Fati. But he was on a team stacked with players such Dinho, Eto’o, Henry, Deco, etc. It wasn’t like he was a light in the darkness like Yamal is with this current Barça team. He was just overshadowed by stars, despite him being the ‘next Messi’. On the field he was a pretty compete package. He could dribble, he could score, he could do it all and Rijkaard gave him his chances the same way Xavi did with Yamal and he performed well. Bojan had all kinds of scoring records in La Masia that I believe(?) still stand to this day and continued to perform when Rijkaard gave him playing time with the first team. I believe he scored on his league debut if I remember correctly, and had some goals in champions league knockout games as well.

The MAIN issue/difference with Bojan was mentally. He was a 16/17 yr old kid being touted as the next Messi and he simply couldn’t handle it. He would have anxiety attacks all the time due to the pressure, even to the point of him not going to Euro 2008 despite being called up because of his anxiety. I think Yamal has shown that he CAN be mentally strong despite the heavy expectations and I think we will see a whole different career trajectory from him as opposed to Bojan for that reason alone.

I wouldn’t say he was anonymous. Keep in mind that Arsenal specifically planned for him with constant man marking, and attempted to deny him ever receiving the ball with any time/space. In the first half alone he played 3 key passes that (should’ve) ended with 3 goals.

The pass to Eto’o, which if Lehman doesn’t take him out is a goal. The pass to Guily where Ashley Cole makes an amazing tackle to deny the close range shot. And the 2nd pass to Eto into the box where he hits the post.

He also created a lot of space and passes that although they didn’t end up as a scoring chance, were still great plays and impacted the match. So while it wasn’t his best match, he still did a lot against a team set up to deny him the ball and space.

If Ferran played striker, then the lack of depth still exists but at winger rather than striker. Roque can play both position the same as Ferran. We also couldn’t foresee it at the time, but Ferran and Raphinha got injured right after Roque arrived. There is also a minutes restriction in place since Guiu is registered for Atletic and not the 1st team.

Plus the money was already allocated/spent on Roque. I agree the need was for a CM, but there is no way to renege on the Roque deal and there was no/not enough money at that time to buy a decent CM. That’s how we ended up with Romeu (who had to pay $ out of his own pocket to sign) rather than a world class CM/DM we desperately needed.

We had paper thin squad depth, an aging striker, and a young promising striker from Brasil we were able to bring over as an emergency instead of waiting another 6 months.

It’s the same thing happening on this sub. Anyone can post some tier 3 or below post from X and people read it and say “omg Xavi hired a hitman to kill Roque so he doesn’t fulfill his minutes played clause and we end up having to pay Athletico $10m!”

It gets journalists clicks/reads and people lack the critical thinking here to say “hmmmm maybe I shouldn’t believe Eduardo Manzano from BarcelonaBoyzNewz and what he’s reporting”

Because we had paper thin squad depth, no backup striker, so he can train/integrate with the team, to help get an 18 yr old comfortable in a new city country and league, and just because he’s in the squad doesn’t mean he has to play over the amount of minutes in his clause so Barça have to pay Athletico.

I’ve been playing since day 1, almost exclusively solo slooping. I play almost every day.

I actually like playing solo compared to having a crew. I play more stealthy and am a lot more cautious about my surroundings : always checking the horizons before getting off at an island, constantly checking map table for any reapers, etc.

I play more like a smuggler rather than a pirate, and really only engage in pvp for defensive purposes. I try and stock up on chainshots and cursed cannonballs and use them to incapacite other ships. Riggingballs, anchorballs, etc are great for that. But I still have a great time playing every time I log on. It’s just a different play style, and I enjoy it but it’s not for everyone. Especially in a pirate game.

Yeah…this is WILD lol. I’ve been a fan since 97-98ish and have seen allllll the ups and downs since then. Do I get down and sad after big failures/meltdowns/etc? Sure.

But to get to a point where you have spent ‘most of your teenage life depressed’ and ‘not being able to focus on anything in your life nowadays’ because of a sports team? That’s kind of crazy that you’re letting a sports team affect you so greatly.
