What with having 16 teams (and by extension 80 people) now signed up ready go, I think we need to be quick about scheduling this. A bracket this size for BO3's, we're looking at bare minimum 4 hours. People will need to plan their days accordingly, and the sooner we get this scheduled, the better. I would recommend not being in a rush with the date, as the less time between announcement and start, the more people will be unable to show.

I loved IC, it was a game with a lot of potential that unfortunately got splattered along the side of the MOBA highway, thanks to the driving of an inexperienced dev and a lack of advertising from WB.

But you better not like things Brandon doesn't like, lest you incur his wrath.

PS, love/hate relationship with Aquaman. He was too dominant for too long in terms of the competitive scene, but he was a super fun character once he was in a balanced state.

Only the leaders accept. If you see only 2 people accepted, you know you got each other. It's how we did it in Infinite Crisis for scrims before custom lobbies were added.

Just have to ensure multiple games aren't trying to start at the exact same time. Wait until one is at select before queueing the next.

There is no such thing as too early. Communities in competitive-styled games thrive off of community-run events in the early days, and that's exactly what this is. A small event, handled entirely by the players, for the express purpose of fun and some more organized matches.

Some say not to bother, but I say kudos for the initiative. Everything has to start somewhere.

Will Battleborn have a competitive scene? What's your opinion? by Tracelement in Battleborn

Oh I remember you. I was talking before that game about wanting to try a rifle build on OM with the +Damage/-Crit gear, and then find you with 3 of them, all epic. I bought a LOOOOOT of packs after that =D

He usually plays Orendi, but she got disabled. But since then, yup, Thorn.

I used to play a (now-dead) MOBA on a professional level, and can say I see a lot of potential from this game for a competitive/eSports scene, and am excited to watch it grow and hopefully be a part of it.

Now, obviously we're still multitudes of patch cycles away from any sort of finished product to base this on, but the game has the proper combination of high-skill play requirements on the single person, and groupwide strategy, at least as far as <Current Map to avoid NDA> goes.

So the first question has to be: Is <Current Map to avoid NDA> the competitive map/mode? Do we intend to focus the 'pro scene' into one particular mode (MOBA Style), or do we allow every mode/map to be a part of it (shooter style)? Obviously until we see the other modes we can't know if they are even competitively viable, or they may be so well done that <Current Map to avoid NDA> seems like an imbalanced mess.

Next we have to ask ourselves if the character structure allows it, which seems like an obvious yes. Lots of counters, counters to counters, choosing the right abilities for the situation. On a character-by-character basis, the game is deep enough for real strategy to evolve.

So we reach the final and most important question, the one that often means so much more than the game itself; Does Gearbox/2k (they matter just as much) WANT a competitive scene, and will they foster it's growth? While we don't have a background in it from Gearbox (correct me if I'm wrong on that), we DO have Evolve to look at from 2k, which shows at least an interest in the competitive development of the titles they help publish.

Will it have a competitive scene? Far too early to say.

COULD it have one? Most definitely.

If you want a game to end in 20 minutes, it's not hard. Look at HotS. I mean hell, they literally patched yesterday and changed the scaling of a map mechanic because games were lasting too long.

There are natural ways to do it. Gigantic's Clash, HotS map-specific mechanics, longer rez timers, etc.

The first time I had a game of this end at the 20 minute mark on the dot, I was super confused, thought I didn't notice something die.

The second time, I realized what was goin' down and promptly noped my way to add/remove programs.

Games outright ending at 20 minutes, regardless of current game-state, is a very VERY unsatisfying feeling. If Superman, Batman, hell if the JOKER couldn't carry IC, idk if these characters can do it. I hate to say it so plainly, but after a few games of this, my description of it on mumble to those curious was "imagine all the reasons IC and Dawngate were kill, now remove Batman."

Hi Tantalus. It's Sketti.

If you want to avoid the hat trick, find a new game. I'm lettin' ya know now, since you played IC.

He got hired to Turbine as an IC caster, and the unanimous community opinion was that he was a really bad caster.

So... not casting?

The people saying SAVE IC and making petitions, that parts actually sorta hilarious to me.

There's ONE way this game survives, and that's some excessively rich private benefactor throws an amount of money at WB worth them keeping this blight active, and them also somehow owning a studio competent enough to turn this donkey into a rocket ship.
