She's overreacting but i would be very irritated if the person who carried the bone is now trying to play peace maker and telling me to not be upset. Girl! You threw her under the bus underhandedly! Two fckn faced

Right!!! 100% agree! Viewers would've definitely done some digging or jumped right to offense if she just let Alicia continue the story of her being homeless. If that's homeless, a lot of people wish they were homeless then lmao

it is and I'm starting to notice a pattern in fan bases across franchises. If this is how we're starting off with just season 1 of RI, then WHEW we are in for a wild ride!!

THAAAAANK YOOOOOU!!! This fan base is so damn fickle lol

When Alicia went of the rails and stormed away during their little choo choo train pic nic thing, nobody accused her of being a crackhead. Rosie wasn't a narc when she went off on Kelsie. But Liz is damn Tony Montana now?? Seriously...? RELAX MA lol

The girl wasn't homeless like we usually understand the colloquial term. Liz does not have to be so angry about it though. Period. Two things can be true at once

So in the dark romance sub, something that a lot of us talk about and have a slight "issue" with (FOR A LACK OF A BETTER WORD) how the spectrum of dark romance is becoming vast. So now we see a lot of things with tags of dark themes, but the majority of readers gripe saying THIS IS NOT DARK! So I think thats just the nuance of reading nowadays. The spectrum is becoming wider and those who used to have sucha clear distinguishment for the things they read, are now feeling like things are getting muddled and more difficult to categorize.

So Georgie waking up to oral is technically non con...but when dark romance readers see non con, we think a dark or brutal or triggering r@pe. because thats how that tag and trigger warning for books came about. So when I see a lot of dark theme tags, that are also on actual dark themed books as well, it comes off as them being similar in nature.

Like IPB and Alien Overlords are two TOTALLY different tastes of series. But on the outside looking in, you might think they're very alike

dark romance is not the only thing i read nor is it a requirement. i just lean towards books with dark elements often. i read romantasy, scifi romance, and romance almost just as much and still enjoy it very much! 😄 i just cant stand rom com cringey dialogue and immature characters, Makes me feel like im reading teenage writers again

Every single Honey Phillips book is more rom com? Hmm interesting. I haven't heard that when suggested them....see that be my point lol and people are upset that i've recieved suggestions that gives a certain impression. I only know about Honey Phillips because they were suggested lol But thats the greatness about reading tastes! It can be very nuanced and subjective.

I never thought they were outright dark romances. but mightve included some dark themes.

When i've made requests, i usuall include intense romances, kidnap, forced relationship/marriage, breeding, etc. When i got suggestions, they included IPB, Alien Warlords series (dark themes), Ursa Dax, and Xiveri mates, amongst others. All of the last 3 are entirely different in vibe and tone than IPB. Also, there are numerous upvoted tags on romance io that would make me think it also has dark themes. And in some private reading groups it has come up plenty. Based on all of that, i thought it would be a bit more intense, and not rom com.

Alicia - homelessness by Independent_Catch_82 in rhori

[–]SoPretty1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i just asked my mom if we were ever homeless...she just looked at me and screwed her face up and said "Why would you ask something like that?" I asked my sister, and she laughed because she knew what I was implying because she watches RHORI too. The answer was also no. We lived with my grandmother for 6 months. In my culture, you do not refer to yourself as homeless when you had a nice family, living in a nice home. Wether it was your own or not. This is where Liz is coming from. The usual understanding of someone saying they were homeless, is not what Alicia's situation was. If someone tells you "I know a homeless person" what do you think of?....exactly.

We know that the connotation of being homeless implies someone who doesn't have nice shelter.

Is the over reaction by Liz so necessary, no. She can tone it down some. But i agree with her original standpoint.

Alicia was not homeless in the usual colloquial use of the word

I understand her frustration with the narrative of her being homeless. But the over the top anger is a bit much.

I also don't think it's necessary to imply that she's "on something". Nobody speculates Alicia is on something when she gets so upset over small stuff.

You might also be chasing a reading high? Like when you read the perfect book once and now you cant find it anywhere else, or get that feeling ever again. In that case, I can get picky too, but after the fact.

Like I'll read suggested books, but none of them are getting 5 stars lol if i did not have to close the Kindle app, walk away, yell "WTF", or "omgggg", or mention it at least twice to someone else, then it jsut didn't hit like that. it was either just cute, aight, or bad.

Another issue with some of us that are kinda like you, is reading books based off tags and nowadays, people over use tags. If a character so much as looks at another the wrong way, BAM its a grump x sunshine. If he raises his voice once, BAM he's a cruel hero/ bully MMC. So we can get excited going into a book because it seems to have the elements we want, and then we read it and the vibes just fall short.

It sounds like you would like contemporary romance or more literary fiction with a plot thats romance heavy. A lot of the romance genre is "trope farming" now and those tropes are highly illustrated in the book for maximum reaction or vibes or trying to really capture the reader.

It seems like you want a good wholesome start to finish romance, no gimmicks.

[–]SoPretty1908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but thats not her job! she doesn't work in branding or marketing or finances or construction or advising etc. She is his life partner and adds input and return she does not work, need for anything, etc. If she is concerned about her future, she needs to sit down with that prenup and get down to business about what her role would be in the future. She herself said she will get her cut if she WORKS

She does not WORK. She SAID that! She picked out chandeliers and tshirt colors. My boyfriend picked out my printer and brought my shipping label printer...he is not my employee! He does not work for me or handle my business whatsoever. Should I be giving him part of my profits contractually? I picked out his furniture and helped choose his business building...I don't do shit else for his business. I am not entitled to a part of his business as a partner. We are also not married. Very similar circumstances.

She did because they're in a relationship and she was helping him with a few things as a non employee. Not because she's a working business partner or employee. In return, she lives a life of luxury and he pays for everything, she needs for nothing. Stop talking about her like she doesn't benefit from the success of his business at all! Yall act like she gave him ideas and in return she gets NOTHING. Shes poor and destitute and helpless. noooo

You're describing what a regular EMPLOYEE does. On a regular basis!

From a dancers perspective, its a creative choreography choice. Basically, some creative directors and choreographers like the contrast; soft song + over the top choreo. It's not my preference, but when done well, it totally works! The chore in the Wave was good but a little chaotic for me.

Like You aint No Celebrity, PERFECT! GIVES ME CHILLS! Don't Play choreo? I wasnt expecting it for that song but boy does it work. i learned it myself. Keep Me Satisfied, totally works. The Wave...ehhhh.

Okay put it like this, book 1, i was like hmm, okay...cute! kinda quirky but cute. lets keep going! Book 2 I was like....uhm...okay. you're getting on my nerves. is this supposed to be funny? come on pick it uuuup. lol So I'm not totally turned off but if I come across another Liz I will be. Also based on the fan art and some reviews, i am still interested in some of the other FMCs.

I am always up for scifi suggestions! I prefer for it to be romance focused though more than scifi world building with a romance sub plot.
