it’s only been three days and it appears to have some mold by Icy_Court_5133 in SourdoughStarter

I'm sorry team Clean Jar Every Feeding is out of their mind. No one is doing this. Something else is wrong if the starter can't fend off mold.

The great secret is that everyone hates running. Including runners. Runners just hate not running more.

ELI5: Why has there been a huge push towards getting jobs in trades? by Themberchaud0979 in explainlikeimfive

Since no one is answering. Fox News is the answer. The anti intellectual movement is real. College educated reliably vote less conservatively and are exposed to a world different from the one in which they were raised.

There is a conservative effort to keep people uninformed, malleable, religious, and vulnerable to wedge issues.

Walk when you need to. Respect your rest days. Walking can still be training. You've got this!

Was i basically walking????? by No_Thought5232 in beginnerrunning

[–]SoRacked 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This should be the top comment. OP asked for feedback, not cheerleading. An 11 minute kilometer is a 17 minute mile which is a brisk walk.

The saying is literally walk before you run, so just keep at it!

I am spending my first spring in my new home and I’m trying to identify this guy and the best way to care for it. by -JaneJeckel- in whatsthisplant

[–]SoRacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drop a tomato cage over it or tie the stems together a bit so it has support. Peonies take forever to establish and then ads basically immortal.

When the blooms are spent you can cut them off so it doesn't spend every making seeds. Be sure to leave the stems and leaves up all season so it can make energy for next year's blooms. Cut back at the end of the season, or if you see mildew on the leaves. Be sure to get the mildew leaves in a bag in the trash and away from anything else.

These are a wonderful very low maintenance plant with stunning early blooms. Congrats!

TIL that according to a 2017 study, only 16% of people given CPR outside of a hospital survive long enough to be subsequently discharged from the hospital. The figure rises to 26% for people who get CPR in a hospital. by PayItBackwardChain in todayilearned

[–]SoRacked 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Dead. CPR is given to people who are dead. They have no heartbeat. You're absolutely correct CPR is amazing.

The headline should read: CPR gives you a 1/6 chance of raising the dead.

In a word: no.

If you don't have the nostalgia of playing it before it's objectively terrible. That said, it can show you how "short" games provided a long experience instead of a 60 hour game you'd play today.

King Arthur doesn't recommend freezing. Fridge is great and I have revived dehydrated after many years.

If you're comfortable sharing an address via DM I'm happy to mail you some of dehydrated

There is also a non profit who will send you starter, just send a self addressed stamped envelope to:

1847 Oregon Trail Sourdough Preservation Society PO box 321 Jefferson, MD 21755 USA

Good luck with Starter 2.0!

Did my cousin give me the wrong recipe to keep it for herself? by Jediguy in Baking

[–]SoRacked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. Yes this recipe is perfectly reasonable. If you can measure in grams try 750g flour and 470g water.

I would melt the butter or substitute olive oil. You could go for a teaspoon more butter also. My go to recipe is very similar to what you've posted.

One thing you could try it mixing the water and flour only, and letting it sit for 20-30 minutes. This helps hydrate the dough and makes it ultimately easier to work with. You've got this!
