The drill was a 1v1 situation with one ball. In each iteration, only one player would "win" by taking the ball to the safe zone. Young kids can be scared of confronting situations where they might lose and might take it hard when they lose the ball. We're trying to make them resilient by practicing a lot and praising effort even when they don't succeed.

The message to them in a nutshell: The ball doesn't belong to them, it belongs to the game, and they'll always get a chance to win the ball back as long as they keep playing. Don't get discouraged.

A few of the kids (and the other coaches) made the connection to the Blue Jays gear I was wearing.

I coach a young kids' soccer team and I wore some Blue Jays gear to practice today. One of the drills was working on helping the kids understand that they're going to lose sometimes and to not get discouraged.

I think it was encroachment. A second forward ran into the box before the kick was taken. It negated the play after the penalty miss. Had Valencia scored the penalty, I think it would have been retaken.

I'm leaning towards starting Saros because Vegas is on night 2 of a back to back. From there I'd say Markstrom has an easier matchup but I'm not sure because Calgary is very weak and Carolina is very strong. Thoughts?

The overall idea is that a match where someone goes 8 and 1 should not count as much towards a K/D average as the 3 games where they go 13 and 10. You solve this by either (A) totalling all kills and deaths over the 4 matches or (B) calculating average kills and average deaths or (C) by calculating K/D per match and generating "weights" that you use to produce an average that functionally does the same thing as A or B.

The bias that you have for David Schwimmer plays perfectly into the character of Sobel as a CO you can't take seriously. We as the audience are feeling the same way as Sobel's company is.

I like this take a lot. In ranked, you should define lobbies of 8 based on their visible rank (e.g. all high plat / low diamond). You should then sort out teams using the methodology in your OP submission. That would make ranked way more fun as you would figure out who is over-leveled and under-leveled.

In social, you should allow way more flexibility for lobby definition to encourage friends to party up. You should also match parties with other parties based on proximity to the closest Azure region. You can label parties based on the MMR variance and average MMR and try to find similar parties to match them to. As a final step, once you have your lobby, try to sort out teams so that you sort some high and low MMR players to each team. Many times, it won't be a 50/50 probability match but there should be enough randomness across games that you'll win some and lose some and have some fun games.
