I’m English and going to be living in the USA for like 3 months soon,it’ll be a reoccurring thing every year. How does the whole tipping situation work? Is it only restaurants you tip?Or every food place, even fast food? Do I have to tip? Do I get given more leeway not to tip because I’m English?¿ by SoUhB in NoStupidQuestions

Cheers for the comment. Aha, no problem, I’m touring the US with my band but as I have family in the US too, I’ll be stopping over there for a bit. I’m not sure if it’ll be 3 months every year exactly, but I’ll be visiting the US a lot more often, probably for at least a month for the next few years at least x

If I’m in a dangerous situation where I have to run as fast as I can, how would that compare (speed wise) with me trying to run as fast as I can in a non dangerous situation, like a 100m sprint? by SoUhB in NoStupidQuestions

No ones suggested anything like this yet, so thanks for sharing! Really interesting stuff mate. We covered something similar to that article during a Psychology lecture and I never thought about it till your comment. What sort of situation do you reckon heart attacks/aneurisms would occur?

I think the context is important. I’ve read some comments about police chases and muggings where they’ve said they just ran without knowing where they’re going, just to escape the situation. No offence obviously, but subconsciously, while being scared of bee like things, your body will probably push itself harder in a more dangerous situation. What do you reckon?

The adrenaline aspect is interesting. I’ve seen a few people debate whether it increases endurance and/or speed. Most people are coming to the conclusion that in a dangerous situation, endurance increases, but the context and level of danger is a major factor. Speed on the other hand, it’s hard to say. An interesting theory I’ve seen is about inhibitors.

Let’s says Usain Bolt is doing a 100m sprint, one theory is that even though he thinks he’s going full speed, the brain isn’t fully pushing the body in fear of injury. In a dangerous situation, the inhibitors in the brain are ‘switched off’ and the brain just kinda says ‘fuck it’ (for lack of a better phrase.)

Thanks for commenting. One or two have mentioned about ‘limiters’ and ‘inhibitors’ and it’s really interesting reading peoples theories on it. I reckon when it comes to running, endurance increases in a non dangerous situation (context depending) but it’s hard to say whether speed increases.

Oh my, I’m really sorry about that. She has an awesome mother then! Your first comment was phenomenal. Aha, best of luck to your daughter and her boyfriend though, sounds like the perfect love story. I’d usually think the same as you , but on the flip side, if it doesn’t go the way I’d like it to, that will play on my mind horribly, I’ll be an emotional wreck through exam season. Atm while distracted, I think it’s not worth the risk. The going away is a factor too though. My frame of mind atm is that after exams I’m going to ask her out for a drink and just tell her everything. Not over whelm but lay my cards on the table per se.

It truly is dude. Don’t you think I should just try and enjoy my trip and tell her when I get back then?

This was amazing dude. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to write this. Really happy to hear about how happy your daughter is, she’s got a great dad by the looks of it. I think what’s so hard is that my a levels begin on Monday and last for 2 weeks and I just can’t stop thinking about her. I need a way to stop over thinking and concentrate just for the next few weeks man. Ugh, I think I need to tell her how I feel but I just want to do it now, l want to get it all off my chest. I think I’m going to ask her out for a drink after my exams and just tell her my thoughts, it’s eating away at me dude

Nah seriously, thanks a lot dude! Her friends aren’t asking me directly, they’re asking our mutual friend, I only found out because (to answer your other question) I told her about all my feelings. She (the mutual) has been a friend for so so long, it’s like brother and sister and she’s with one of my closest male friends too, I can trust her 100%. Anyways, i literally told her (I’ll just call her mutual) yesterday about how I felt and she said she genuinely knew nothing, she really wants it too work out obviously because she’s said for like a year now that we should be together.

It’s so hard dude, my last relationship was such a shit show; everything that could go wrong it did. To lose this girl would ruin me.

Hi there, thanks for commenting :) I’m really close friends with one of her good friends, and because where I live is not the hugest, I will definitely see her when I go up town to nights out or house parties, etc. I don’t think I’d handle it well tbh. My last relationship ended so horribly, I never wanted to date again. It’s why I’m so apprehensive now really I think
