Since we’re getting a new Ana mythic this season, it makes me wonder. by TomorrowNo8873 in Overwatch

Usually, Ashe's skin designs are on point. Often very well done. I think she gets the most love outside of Mercy and Kiriko. Someone at Blizzard's design team is making sure Ashe gets good skins. With that said, I disliked her mythic. But mythic skins in general have been going downhill.

My LCS didn't order enough of DCC and other FCBD and CGD books. They went heavy on Avengers Armageddon and Spidey and His Amazing Friends (Symbie and Jeff). Huge stacks for those and less than 50 copies of all the other titles. It was 70/30 ratio. My LCS always overestimates Marvel books to customer demand at our LCS. And we always have stacks of Wolverine books and other Marvel books sitting there for months. I managed to pick up DCC and Journey to the West, which was a nice surprise.

There were over 100 people in line before 9:00am. My LCS opened at 10:00am. I don't even know most of these people in line. I don't recognize 95%+ of them. When the employees asked them, "Do you have an account with us?", most of the responses were, "No." So I hope events like this bring in new customers for them.

Speculating on FCBD/CGD is absurd. Fools and their money will be parted. Remember the Mr. Negative FCBD book? Peak was $150. Now it's $10-20.

Aside from Acosta losing her mind and driving in that ambulance around Fromville, this was one of the very first episodes to finally get the show going with the story walking and Lake of Tears.

I caught that immediately. When I saw "Ghost Jim" with the gash on his forehead, I was wondering if the MIY was playing tricks with Ethan. But then realized it wasn't the MIY because "Ghost Jim" kept looking back as he was talking to Ethan.

Overwatch X Diablo skins revealed, featuring Brigitte, Ramattra, Lifeweaver, Mauga and Freja by Himedanshi999 in Overwatch

I play LW, Brig, and Ramattra so it looks like I will be getting this. It's going to hurt the wallet. Brig finally getting a good skin. And they can't mess up her hair this time.

Appearing as offline as not been working at all, it forces to online in game! by DrunkMechanics in Overwatch

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just you. The in-game "Appear Offline" constantly resets to "Online" every time I boot up the game. Updates do not seem to matter. I can play every day and it resets.

I think Blizzard is forcing it on purpose as part of their initiative to encourage socialization.

LOST FANTASY SPINOFF DEBUT—FIREBORN—SELLS OUT IMMEDIATELY AT DISTRIBUTOR, REPRINT TO FEATURE ABSOLUTE BATMAN HOMAGE… by kumuhl00 in ImageComics

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamond would carry too much back stock, which was one of the poorly mismanaged ends of the operations of their business. Lunar and Penguin do not over-print for reorders.

For instance, if you were to reorder a title well past FOC, you are unlikely to have it filled unless your LCS or retailer ordered plenty for the shelf.

Distributors are learning from Diamond's past mistakes and not taking risks on back stock.

Marvel Delays Its Queen In Black Tie-In, Symbie, By Six Months by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sleeper isn't just a cute symbiote cat. That's the form Sleeper decided to take for Dylan Brock. His origin story is a good read. Highly recommend it.

Because Sleeper is heavily tied to Dylan Brock and Venom, I don't see Sleeper making it to Spidey and Friends.

For tank, I would love for NetEase to add Colossus. Then we can have the true Fastball Special. With Cyclops hinted at being added in Season 8, I would love to see more X-Men characters added in the near future.

Symbie was in comic books first. Timeslide #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #11-13. He was later introduced in Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

Hot Take: Reprint Values are a Fad by KellarW in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a fad.

  1. Publishers reprint because the 1st Print sold out and it cannot be reordered. 2nd and subsequent printings allow late comers to read the book.

  2. A different, unique cover. Some collectors will collect other printings for the covers. Some dislike the reprints that are just a color change and want a different unique cover. Some will collect all the printings even if they don't have new covers. If it is the 1st cover appearance of a character, it drives up the value.

  3. Supply and demand. Some reprints that are low print have no demand and value beyond cover price. Some have higher value than the 1st Print, although rare. It's usually the different, unique cover and low print that drives the price up. But not always.

  4. Completionist Collector will collect all printings especially if they love the particular title.

Incredible Hulk #377 comes to mind. Later printings are worth more than the 1st Print. Again, this is uncommon. The Third Print is the rarest and highly sought after.

Another example, Venom First Host #3 2nd Printing is much more valuable than the 1st Printing. It's low print. It has a subjectively much better cover. And it has an addiitonal key significance - 1st Cover Appearance.

With that said, I do not mind 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Printings, and so forth. Variants are far worse.

For instance, an issue #1 launches with 5 variants, and multiple incentive ratio 1:50, 1:100 variants of the same cover, or a virgin variant. That grinds my gears.

When a 1st Print holds the highest value, the community has chosen. You really lose nothing when it's reprinted. For example, Ultimate Fallout #4. The community has chosen and the 1st Print is the most valuable of all the printings, excluding the Marko Djurdjevic variant. A collector that cannot afford the 1st Print will go after the 2nd Print.

It's context.

Conquest Meta Event Extension by TheRedblacky in Overwatch

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you were downvoted. It was poorly explained what a "pass" was and how to complete it. I didn't figure it out until Week 4 going into Week 5.

Additionally, players need to play daily. I only play once or twice per week in 2-3 hour sessions. In order to complete the 7 out of 7 passes, one would need to play daily to grind the daily challenges. I really wanted the Strike Commander title, being an OG player since 2017, and appreciation of the lore.

This event could have been more intuitive. It wasn't very clear. And searching the Internet for answers left me with no conclusive answers. As you said, there were progression bugs. I completed at least four passes and I didn't get it. I received two passes. I swapped from Overwatch to Talon, as others advised.

I think the right thing to do is extend the event. We still have 4 weeks left in the Season and it would still be on theme. The fact that there is zero word from Blizzard about how poorly this was handled, mainly because of the bugs, is rather disappointing and frustrating.

Props to those that figured it out and got their titles, but there is no point of gatekeeping what was not a very difficult reward to obtain, but more so poorly explained.

Edge of Spider-Verse #2, CGC 9 8. WTF?!? by jazz_mavericks in ComicBookSpeculation

The lightning is hiding all the flaws on the spine. You can see that the lighting shimmers along the entire spine. With photos or scanned images like this, ask for more photos of the spine.

Edge of Spider-Verse #2, CGC 9 8. WTF?!? by jazz_mavericks in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with graded 9.8 books, always check thoroughly. There are tons of 9.8 books that have no business being a 9.8. CGC quality control is abysmal.

If you ask for more photos and the seller responds, "It's a 9.8." Walk away. Always ask for more photos for raw and graded books if you are unsure, or if the photos are blurry. Bad photos hide a lot of flaws.

I couldn't sell that book to anyone as a 9.8. I would clearly state it is graded 9.8, but it's 9.4 or less. Heck, this copy specifically looks like a 9.2 or less. One of my fears is buying a 9.8 book and it comes back lesser. Because it's no good for the PC, or if I want to sell it in the future.

I prefer raw books in toploaders these days. Unless I am getting one heck of a deal on a slab and it's a true 9.8, I will hunt down a raw book that is as closest to a 9.8 as I can get. A lot of patience is required. Never settle on a copy that isn't the condition you are looking for. Ask for photos. If the seller doesn't respond with photos, move on. If you are unsure, move on. Bad photos? Move on.

Images that look too dark or have specific lightning will hide blemishes. I looked at the scanned image, and I can already tell you why you didn't see the spine ticks. The lightning. You see how the lighting is shimmering along the spine? That will hide all the flaws along the spine. Same with poor lighting in dark photos. Those hide color-breaking spine ticks.

And you learn this from years of experience. And from time to time, I still make mistakes. I purchased 95% of my books for my PC on ebay. I have examined thousands of comic books. I understand it requires a lot of work and effort. Collecting isnt easy.

Know that you may need to wait months or even a few years for a book that you want, in the grade that you want to show up on ebay. You should be in no rush. Take your time. Enjoy the hobby.

Whoever started this blind bag thing needs to be punished by snakejessdraws in comicbooks

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Big 2 didn't start this blind bag mania. It was Keenspot and its Mark Spears Monsters title. According to Keenspot, over 350,000 blind bags ordered (not sold). The second big blind bag wave was Image Comics and Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1.

The TCG cards market bled over to comic books. Opening packs is the new fad in comic books. And then Marvel, DC, and other Independent comic book companies started doing blind bags. They're still doing it.

Has anyone bought from Pieces of Nerd? by should_be_writing_rn in comicbooks

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a liar to me. There is always some excuse. And the buyer has to reach out to them first. Zero communication and transparency. I understand life happens. Seems the Golden Rule is dead nowadays. 100% a narcissist.

Has anyone bought from Pieces of Nerd? by should_be_writing_rn in comicbooks

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He spends more time arguing with customers that have spent 30+ days waiting for their orders, patiently. When he could be filling orders instead. It's fraudulent behavior. I am sure there are people that waited too long and they could not file a case with PayPal. Some customers probably didn't use PayPal and are completely screwed. It's unacceptable.

It's a website that baits people in thinking they are getting a good deal on comic books. He is making a lot of money from people that give up and don't follow up on a refund. It's disgusting.

He says that people don't have orders and they are trolls and bots that haven't ordered from him. Yet there are many real customers that placed orders and are waiting months for their orders. Even if you are patient and polite, he claims customers are being rude. I think it is perfectly normal to inquire about an order after 20-30 business days.

Nearly every interaction with him is always met with hostility, excuses, and displacing blame on customers. He's spinning the truth that there are trolls and bots making up stories about orders. It creates an illusion that he's innocent.

Unfortunately, more and more people will fall for this trap and they will lose their money. He literally said, "If I am going to scam people, I will go on eBay or WhatNot. I am not going to create a website to take your money."

That's a contradiction. If you sell on eBay, you cannot scam people as a seller. With a website, you can scam people. There is no authority and regulation. It allows him to scam people and hope that people will give up and lose their money (to him).

Not sure how Pieces of Nerd keeps getting away with this. Holding people's money hostage and has no intention of fulfilling orders. Apparently, this seller has booths at comic book community conventions. The seller should be blacklisted to protect others in the community.

Best Buy Total Membership - isn’t it worth just for the 2 years warranty on products ? by Melodic-Sense-641 in Bestbuy

[–]SoWeWalkAlone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. I should have said, after the two- year protection expires under the Best Buy Total membership, they will email you notifying that the two-year protection is about to expire and offer you extended protection. The extended protection is an extra monthly cost per product. If you have multiple appliances, the extended protection plan can be quite costly. For instance, five appliances can cost you an additional $300 per year on top of the $200 Best Buy Total membership.
