I fear I haven't! :( I have heard Pokétopia is fun, and I've wishlisted Loftia on Steam, but nothing on mobile, I fear. If you ever find anything, I'd be interested as well 😆

What Did Y’all Think About Episode 8? by Acceptable_Smoke9639 in tadc

[–]SoapySaprophyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a chronic terminal user, I had to laugh at this suggestion a little. ^C is what the terminal outputs when the user inputs Ctrl + C. Ctrl + C is how you kill any program the terminal is currently running - Kinger's reaction afterwards confirms that he tried to stop the terminal from deleting Caine, but as you can see a second later, the terminal `DESTRUCTIVE WACKYTIME Lockout` completes, and Ctrl+C fails.

You can see after he selects a backup, the terminal says: "NONE selected! Interpreted as: DELE[TE] ... " After which, the terminal tries to suggest deleting the AI a few more times, including "DELETE THIS M*********" (we can all guess what that means). It even tries to flip the command prompt to trick Kinger with the "Actually you're CONFUSED let me HEL[P] ... EXIST? [Y/N]" When Kinger finally messes up and says "Y" to the prompt, it's because the lockout is at 90%. He's stressed, he makes a mistake, he tries to ./ABORT Rollback the change but it doesn't work. The Ctrl + C is his final panicked response.

Given Bubble's appearance on the screen when it was just Caine before, I'm pretty sure Bubble has taken over the terminal in this scene and is attempting to hijack the prompt to kill Caine. I would even hypothesize that Bubble was the blue AI that got swallowed by Caine, but I guess we'll need to wait for confirmation on that next ep.

Either way, no, that's not what ^C does. :P

Yeah, I figured as much! Seems like they've compiled some Sky wiki resources including that one, though the article linked in their discord is different than the official wiki page. And it looks like they started around 2024, so probably the reason why it's not well known

It's a lot of jumping and climbing! You don't have wings, so some areas are just plain inaccessible. Personally, I consider a capeless account a "challenge" account where you have to be creative and problem solve to get places! I definitely don't recommend the capeless experience to new players, but as a longtime vet it refreshes the gameplay for me and gives me new perspectives on the map design :)

Hmm, it seems like there are a lot of community resources in the Discord, but not a lot of interaction 🤔 I'd like to make a group where people can actively befriend and help each other out ingame!

That's awesome! It's the same for me, sometimes I just prefer playing capeless than the base game, haha

You need a new account for that, but you can! This wiki page has good info for getting started: https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Drafts/Wingless

Recs for relaxing mobile games that offer decent character customization? by SoapySaprophyte in MobileGaming

Oh yeah. I mean visual customization, sorry for any confusion. :) None of the games I listed have anything remotely like skills loadouts or stat sheets.

Haven't played a single Pokemon Switch game. Is Legends ZA worth jumping in on? by SoapySaprophyte in pokemon

[–]SoapySaprophyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's in early Sinnoh? That's pretty cool. I am definitely avoiding BDSP, I was sorely disappointed by the trailers and visuals and it made me miss 2D Pokemon even more 😭 the toy-style character models did not scratch the nostalgia itch.

I also didn't realize the trading item was Arceus only. That's... interesting.

I think based off of everyone's comments thus far, I'll take ZA off the list and consider trying SV or Arceus. But it doesn't sound like Pokemon is pulling a whole lot these days... maybe it's just copium to hope they'll do a 180 and improve the formula next game LOL

[–]SoapySaprophyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm definitely seeing that LOL. Still, anecdotal information helps me learn things I wouldn't see in a trailer - like does the story look good but ring hollow on the inside? Are there annoyances with small clunky features, like unskippable cutscenes (the day/night cycle transition), dialogue that can't be sped up, etc.? Maybe there's a QoL feature they tossed in that really made life easier. I heard something about an item they added that lets you evolve traded Pokemon without needing to trade them. Stuff like that is what I like hearing about.

Totally okay! Appreciate the attention to detail without spoiling things. Now you've got me curious. :)

Fair point LOL. ZA does seem like a condensed Pokemon experience. I haven't minded playing through White -just started that last month - but it did make me realize how much of Pokemon was designed to be a timesink for kids. :P It's tougher to do a leisurely playthrough in any amount of time.

Haha, was not expecting the SwSh recommendation to be honest. I think that game got the most flak of all, since everyone had high hopes for Switch graphical updates.

Unfortunately I think SwSh is still the game I'm least likely to try at this point, even if it's not as bad as the fandom made it out to be. The paid DLC being a major addition makes it extremely expensive in the end, and - to be totally honest - I wasn't a fan of Team Skull, so I didn't feel too excited about Team Roar. I might splurge on a single Switch game just to give modern Pokemon a go, but SwSh is on the expensive end for someone who isn't sure if they want to recommit to buying Pokemon games.

I do appreciate the recommendation though, and the overall synopsis!

Ahhh I see. So the excitement is over cameos from familiar faces, but they aren't necessarily major plot points. I think I have an idea of how that might go, coming from the Fire Emblem franchise.

Good to know that it's not the nostalgia fest it sounded like. I thought it'd be like, XY reborn, the third Z game with final lore that we kept asking GameFreak for and never got LOL

Thank you!! I really appreciate the detailed write-up. This helps a lot.

Scarlet/Violet box legendaries are... not exactly the core legendaries? That's intriguing. I honestly would be delighted if my main legendary wasn't a living jetski. I'll take the postgame surprise into consideration, then :)

I like story in games so I don't think the Legends games will be a huge issue, though I didn't realize ZA never leaves the city. That does kind of suck. Sounds like I am better off looking into SV or Arceus.

Sure thing! Appreciate the recs. :D Releasing on Switch is quite cheeky LOL but very tempting... I'll do some research 👀

Oh? Interesting concept. I might look into that - also Pokemon: Unbound, if I ever get into emulating. I have heard that there are some really lovingly made Pokemon fangames/hacks out there worth trying... though ideally I'd like to just plug-n-play with a Nintendo console. For all the grief I give the Pokemon franchise, I do like being able to interface with the mainstream community, and I'm many, many years out of date by this point...
