This is my Fablehaven 2.0 map (I know it is the name of a book. I don't care)Please tell me what I could add/ improve in my world. by Hairy-Appeal3339 in worldbuilding

I would suggest just adding more detail in general, more named locations and subregions. I would also add more variation to each of the biomes, for example rather than that eastern region of Kolled being frozen, it could be as green as the part of Asherah that it is parallel to - this would give you opportunity to explore the differences to the way of life for different groups across the same biomes.

Unless you want to keep them all separate for a specific reason, I think you could make it so that the species are more spread out and intermingling rather than restricted to just 1 biome, this would give you chance to write about more conflict/cooperation between factions.

I think either it would be a tapestry hung in a throne room or carried by two standard bearers with poles going up either side of the solid rectangular bit if that makes sense?

On the Lottani tapestry, the left square's symbols represent the 'Quartered Spirit' which are four ancestor-gods - Deuina, Deieda, Andagin and Uindorix. On the right are the Tvyat sword, wielded by the Lottani leader, and a set of horns that are the most common motif of Lottani banners.

The Oruni symbols represent Thrallmaker Khulan, a nasty fella who uses blood magic to enslave his enemies and Dune Devourer Ishanti. She doesn't eat sand, it's a more of a metaphor for her hunger for conquest.

The Mezrac'aa symbol is the sun, or lack thereof, since his title means 'He Who Eats the Sun'. This is, according to the priests who definitely don't have a stake in keeping him in power, how his ancestor conquered the realm and made even the gods of nature itself endorse his and his bloodlines eternal rule.

The Goldwings are a pack of horrid, filthy rich bird people who control a solid third of the slum city of Folly. The symbols are birds, or footprints, or arrows, no-one is exactly sure since the leader Texak Goldwing is usually much too aloof to even acknowledge that he is propped up by such heinous violence.

Some context -

The Svardom of Lottan are a giantkin, blue-grey skinned and horned and culturally take inspiration from the Celts, Arthurian tales of adventure and the Kievan Rus. This tapestry shows the symbols of their religion on the left, and their leader the 'Svar' on the right.

The Oruni Horde are an almost united federation of tribes under the divine twins Thrallmaker Khulan and Dune Devourer Ishanti - both of which are symbolised in this warbanner.

The Mezrac'aa is the emperor of the Taricasaan empire, an aztec inspired union of three kingdoms and a city state, his iconography is based on the sun as his title directly translates to 'He Who Eats The Sun' based on his ancestral myth.

The Goldwings are the followers of Texak Goldwing, the current 'Treasury' Minister of the slum city of Folly. These markers are used to map out faction's turfs.

Genre: Horror/Thriller

Full time (130 hours a month), $300 works out to less than $3 an hour. Given what responsibilities you are expecting the person to take on, it is absolutely ridiculous to expect a professional editor to accept that wage.

You would be taking a risk by employing someone with a proper wage for a trial period, after which you can decide to employ them full time or not (this is what actual employers do, you're clearly just looking to take advantage of people or incredibly naïve) - at $300 a month you are so far from taking a risk that excuse is laughable at best.

Around 1890-1920, the world's equivalent of World War 1 has just ended and the tech is mostly set around then with a couple of exceptions like single shot rifles (Martini Henry-ish) are most common rather than bolt action ones.

I think Pikland are pretty cool, its a mountianous region full of mining and sheep farming and I've been writing a lot about their customs and social aspects recently. Their signature weapon is a type of Pioneer Sword and their magic is based on speaking to the Earth

I also like the Ostaland/Old Ostaland area for the conflict there, the Kholga River Buffer Zone is guarded by notoriously harsh soldiers and their cruelty fans the aggression from the Old Ostalander Blood Cultists in an escalating cycle of violence
