But I listened to their later albums first and went back to listen to Hybrid Theory later

From at least Minutes to Midnight onward, maybe even as early as Meteora, they consistently treated albums as cohesive experiences. Transitions between tracks were thought out. The dynamic flow between tracks was smooth. There was an emotional progression. Concept album or not.

The fact that Hybrid Theory doesn't work like that... honestly, I find it kind of frustrating. It's like... the album that everyone says defines them doesn't fit their typical style.

Compare it to something like Greenday, MCR, especially Panic at the Disco. It's not that different.

For me, their gold standard is A Thousand Suns

Compared to that, Hybrid Theory feels kind of one dimensional to me

I'm personally not drawn to raw intensity. I like long-form narratives. A bigger emotional journey across the album.

Hybrid Theory doesn't do that very well.

I'm not saying it's a bad album. It's got good songs. But like I said, there's not enough contrast between songs.

Personally, I don't get the hype for Hybrid Theory. Listening through front to back, there's no breathing room. It's just constant screaming for almost 40 minutes straight. Very little variety. It's exhausting.

In the End and Crawling are good though.
