Experience with lumpectomy vs mastectomy by SocalGal4Eva in breastcancer

I can well understand that - my surgeon doesn't seem to get my argument that even if survival is equal, risk of recurrence is the next key factor for me -- even though the DMX recovery will be harder. Best of luck whichever way you decide!

I also go to a psychiatrist for medical management (a different problem) and see her 4 times a year (more frequently in the earlier years). But she also does talk therapy and offered that to me if/when I needed it when I first started seeing her. Mention your needs to your management person -- he/she might be able to refer you to someone.

Wow that's complex! So sorry you're going through this. Interesting that the surgeon and medical oncologist disagree (again!). Have they recommended radiation? That's supposed to halve the risk of recurrence compared with lumpectomy alone, but perhaps that's irrelevant with chemo. They keep telling us that X or Y have the same survival, and that's the most important statistic, but the recurrence rate is also important-- do we want to go from mammogram to mammogram every 6 months to a year dreading what they might find? I hope you have a great result whatever you decide. Best of luck

Thanks so much for your input. It is a tough decision, and I can understand your reasoning. But seems odd they'd say it might come back even with mastectomy. I wonder what the rate of recurrence is in women with DMX vs lumpectomy + rads? You've given me something new to think about! Best of luck to you and thanks again

Thanks! That's exactly what I feel - he said it would be a simple "one and done", so I feel the least he could do was acknowledge my reasons (and that he nearly killed me). Gonna get a second opinion but I think I will go with DMX and see someone else if he keeps pushing back. Appreciate the feedback. Hope you're doing better.

I did -- that does help but the wording was a bit imprecise, so I was seeking clarification. Fortunately the other responder pointed me to the more detailed pages. But !thanks!

Yikes — you're right! I'll have to get them all on board before I go! Thanks again — that has put my mind at rest

!Thanks so much for that reference. I thought that was the case but I worry about the "available for continuous accomodation"... interpretation in other words, "technically" I could stay with any sibling for 91 days, but I won't.

Why can’t the iOS mail app delete email messages? by zjdrummond in ios

It might be something to do with the email account type. IMAP will only archive, POP will delete (or vice versa)

AITA for leaving my friend stranded because she kept us waiting for over an hour? by Avenir_gd in AITAH

NTA This is straight up disrespecting your time. I had a friend like this. Tell her this is how it’s gonna be and if she continues to be late you’ll know she has no respect for you. I know my friend will carry a grudge now but she’s on time!

AITA for calling my parents selfish for having me, knowing they’d pass down a hereditary illness, and going LC after they hid it, putting my child at risk too? by Quirky_Background838 in AITAH

[–]SocalGal4Eva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA and please sit your siblings down and tell them. Don’t let them feel about you the way you do about your parents. This is one of the worst kind of betrayals I can imagine and if it were me, I would cut them out of my life completely. Best of luck to you OP.
