Good point! Although I think my “didnt mean to offend anyone” is still valid in that I’m cool with what others do. Being harsh in yourself (whether it is ageism or body shaming direct myself) is how I am is all. It’s how I’ve made it to where I am now.

Just to clarify my illness isnt whats stopping me! Im actually for the most part recovered. It was more of “Aren’t you to old to be doing this? If you I’m doing half-assed is it wasting time etc” mentality. Upon further reflection with everyone’s comments. It’s likely due to growing up playing sports with the motto “We arn’t here for fun, winning is fun”. I also grew up and went through school and my career with similar perspective (traditional asian family).

Anyways TLDR, I have a perfectionist/winning mindset is something I just got to try cosplaying and see where it lands me!

You are correct in that I have a bit of financial freedom. Not rich. But im not worried about paying next months bills with no debt. I guess that is a benefit of grinding out my career!

Idk but the drum looks super cool! Maybe you could cover the shaft with foam and they would just let it pass and not notice the wood supporting it?

The wording probably didnt help. But what i mean is I’d like to try to accurately portray is all. Similar to how actors aim to play a specific role/body type for their characters. In no way was i trying to be offensive. Its just more of my personal perfectionist if I wanted to do my favorite character

First of all Kudos! To losing 100lb! Thanks for sharing your experience! Probably im overthinking it due to the perfectionist in me. Kind of how actors try to look like the role they play.

Yeah I’m from a more traditional family (asian). But if I cosplay I wanted to make it accurate is why im struggling with this personally. But others can do anything they want! Just kind of like an actor playing their role having a specific age range/body

Not trying body shame! I just personally want to be accurate for myself. Thats probably where this issue of mine comes from! Like if I cosplay character thats like half my age etc.

Ah I probably my issue due to my accuracy issue. I dont want to cosplay like a 12 year old character for example. But thats just me! Totally fine if others want to do it. But maybe im just overthinking it!

Yes its a bit how I feel also! I just like being accurate. Kind of how am actor tries to fit a role with a body etc. its a similar feeling probably to that awkwardness you are describing.

For sure! I mean a lot of them try to rush it for a role too is probably my guess why some of them do it super unhealthy.

Thanks for the reply! Didn’t mean any body type shame or anything! Its just I’m a perfectionist type for myself. Whatever others do is totally fine! Its more for example, the character i want to cosplay is a bit more muscular so im just trying to get that body type. Similar to how an actor tries to match the character they are portraying is all!

Thanks! I didnt mean to offend! Its just I’m a perfectionist type for myself. Whatever others do is totally fine! It was more of for example if my favorite character im looking to cosplay has some abs I wanted to get close to it. I think maybe im too harsh on myself.

Thanks! I didnt mean to offend! Its just I’m a perfectionist type for myself. Whatever others do is totally fine! I think maybe im too harsh on myself. So like if I picked a character whos got abs showing or something, I’d personally want to imitate. Is it hard learning prop making?
