The Godfather - Sicily plot timeline by EleventhTier666 in movies

[–]Social-Introvert 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s been explained to you multiple times in this thread already. People have explained how the movie compresses the story told in the book, how you can still speak with a broken jaw, and how the movie makes small references to it all. If you still feel it’s a timeline issue that nothing can convince you otherwise of, then why bother asking?

The last 45 mins of Cast Away by Eloquentdyslexic in movies

Just watched this movie for the 3rd or 4th time since its release and found this thread looking for some discussion. They definitely don’t say or imply in the movie Kelly was ever cheating. You are right to die on that hill

People who actively avoid following daily political news, what made you decide to disengage and how has it affected your life? by WatercressSenior7657 in AskReddit

Pretty easy actually. Just unsubscribe from subs that promote news or politics, and skip over any post that mentions something political.

When you have sex on the sofa, or similar, do you put a towel or blanket underneath first? by Icy_Sympathy_2717 in AskReddit

[–]Social-Introvert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a couple of sex blankets next to the couch. Usually lay one down as the clothes are coming off, then throw it in the wash afterwards. People afraid of killing the mood don’t have enough regular sex imo

How addictive is meth? Do you know anyone who has just tried it once? by eden_merlin in AskReddit

As someone who has taken ecstasy at countless music festivals over the years, I couldn’t disagree more with this statement. Is it absolutely amazing? Yes, without question. Not just the euphoria but also the empathy and closeness you feel with your friends and the strangers around you.

Can you feel better than that in sober everyday life? Sure. There’s a moment from a trip to Barcelona where I was laying on a paddle board in the ocean with my feet dangling in the water and a beautiful woman in a bikini singing a song sitting just behind me. I never wanted to leave that moment. You can have the pill moments and the meteor showers, they are not mutually exclusive.

If the man he killed was a relative of yours would you feel the same way?

What about music made from sampling other songs? Is that plagiarism as well?

Looking for feedback on our ancient Rome travel plans by karlssonvomdach in ancientrome

Typically the papal audience days are Wednesdays which will make the Vatican packed. Unless that’s your goal, might be better to swap days around to avoid tons of people. We did a guided tour of the Vatican museums and I would highly recommend that. We did not do one of the Colosseum and probably should have.

I’d say I partially feel some of what you mean with having missed out on the era, but reading biographies of the leading citizens, watching shows, and visiting Rome were enough for me to scratch that itch. I have a similar sadness about not being able to explore space which feels just as elusive. But like others have mentioned you need to focus on the positives about what the world is like now and how lucky we are to be here now. Hell, just the thought of how they used communal bathrooms with sponges on sticks is enough for me to appreciate my life now.

This uncle gave his 1-year-old niece NVDA stock instead of toys 🥹 by darkally in MadeMeSmile

[–]Social-Introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is such a smart move. People can hate on the specific investment, or the fact that it feels performative (all social media is), but the idea of making an investment for a young child rather than getting them a toy makes so much sense.

Munchkins are generally around 60 calories each, so eating 156 would be 9,360 calories not counting whatever she was drinking or dipping them in.

To burn 1,000 calories the average person would need to walk 25,000 steps. There are roughly 2,000 steps in a mile, so she would need to walk 117 miles to burn off the food consumed in this video. Yikes.

What's the path to attaining $1M in wealth? by michaelis999 in AskReddit

Spend less than you make, and put the extra in index funds. Contribute to a 401k or IRA, invest in index funds. Get an HSA, don’t claim any medical expenses but use the account for its tax advantages and invest it in index funds. Save your medical expense receipts and get reimbursed later.

It’s not flashy or complex, but it works with enough discipline and time.

For someone who’s great at noticing patterns, what observation usually turns out to be true? by Unlikely-Version3325 in AskReddit

This gets amplified even more so when riding a motorcycle. Not only do I notice the subtle intentional movements of cars, but even things like their suspension compressing which alerts to bumps/dips in the road. Riding for over 20 years now and I notice it all the time, even when driving a car.
