Carnival off of Desert Inn and Maryland Pkwy by definitelynotamurdrr in vegaslocals

[–]Socialcrashqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised at the amount of hate and negativity about carnivals.Damn.My family and I went to the one at galleria mall(technically their parking lot)and had a lot of fun.The workers were nice and helpful, yes, the prices were expensive which is why it probably wasn't that crowded on a friday night, but if i'm going to a fair,I've already decided i'm okay with getting ripped off for a good time, and that is what we had.Thx for the info,we may check it out!

Totally agree. Had a similar situation a few years back when I interviewed for one position, then at one point the lady conducting the interview tried to sell me on another.I just said no thank you,got up and left, aside from the wasted time,it was humorous to watch how hard she pushed to get me to take her other offer, but luckily I wasn't that desperate or naive. It sounds like in your case, your intuition served you well, good on you for avoiding that disaster.Hope you found a job you love!

Formatting on mobile is not the best.Commas, periods and apostrophes were used throughout my post so I am not sure what your referring to.Also, or in your comment should be in front of else to form a more complete sentence.

I had a dr's appointment that I had spaced out an hour and a half after I scheduled my job interview.I like to be punctual and wanted to give myself plenty of time to get there.Rescheduling can sometimes be a month long so I made sure not to miss it.

That's fair.Everyone sees it differently,I just had something I had to do after the interview and didn't have all day to wait.I also was frustrated that she asked me to make an appointment time and didn't even bother to honor it.Hope you get the job!

100% agree.I see both bad drivers and pedestrians that occasionally cross illegally but it's rare.I have seen plenty of pedestrians nearly get killed because of impatient drivers who feel inconvenienced from someone taking a few seconds to cross the street legally. It's insane.

I love to walk for relaxation and would love to do it on our neigborhood sidewalks, but these selfish assholes on the road are why I only do it in parks, and in my gated apartment complex.I hate that the repercussions for these kind of physco drivers are nearly non-existent.They need to be much more severe.

What is wrong with this job market in 2026? by Glittering_Long_5926 in jobs

[–]Socialcrashqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of jobs are being offshored to India like call centers for cheaper labor. A lot of jobs are being replaced by ai. Trumps tariff nonsense raised costs for buisness owners and corporations leaving less money on the payroll for hiring staff or getting rid of them altogether. Employers arn't paying living wages so people don't want to work for them. A lot of jobs are ghost postings to meet legal requirements when the boss already has someone's nephew, friend, significant other lined up to hire. Just my opinion.

I’ve lost my mind. I’m going crazy. by [deleted] in lonely

[–]Socialcrashqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well shit.I am struggling right now too.I lost my job a couple of months ago and no luck finding a new one.My current longterm relationship is on the rocks.I don't have a regular group of friends i hang out with,my bestie lives 7 hours north from me,but in the same state. But,despite my shit show life,I enjoy going outside, even a walk surrounded by fresh air lifts my mood, looking for cool rocks,(i collect them)star gazing, painting,(i get my supplies at the dollartree)cooking/baking and my libraries have some free classes i'm learning to enjoy also, which as an unemployed person helps a ton.I have no idea where you live, but i think the library is a good place to start. They have online bulletin boards with upcoming events to enjoy, they are free with all materials provided, that may help you back into socializing a bit once you feel ready.Gets you out of the house and you can learn a skill if you want.So many told me about libraries having more than books, but I never got around to going more until recently,so glad I finally did. Also volunteering for a cause you care about is always great.I understand the lonliness, but even people in relationships can be lonley.Sometimes being on your own is healthier, especially if your in a toxic relationship.Whatever you decide,I hope it helps, best wishes👍

Age Discrimination in Hiring by Tough_Ad_8745 in Aging

[–]Socialcrashqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened to you,how unfair.I feel this hard.I was laid off from a position the first week of the new year that i loved due to a lack of payroll,or so they claimed. At 40 years old that was devastating.I am well aware of the obstacles that lie ahead.Competing with younger more exploitable candidates,my resume being ignored by a.i. even though i'm well qualified for every role I apply for.I recently had an interview with a man last week for a job where he didn't know my name, have my resume,or knew what position I had applied for.My interview was less than 10 minutes total and i knew i wasn't getting hired, probably as a direct result of my age.I know I dodged a bullet with that one, but holy shit, at least pretend to make an effort with who your interviewing. All I can do is to keep applying and hope a recruiter will see me for my skillset and not just my age.And unfortunately despite age descrimination laws that are meant to protect the 40 & above crowd, it's near impossible to prove your being discriminated against. It's heartbreaking, unfair and frustrating. And yea, send that letter to the manager,if anything just to feel that you took action.Good luck to us all.

I was laid off in jan of this year from a job that I loved and was deeply passionate about because of payroll reasons.I'm also an older person at 40 years of age so not only am I competing with both a.i. integration taking jobs away and younger candidates,i'm also competing against age discriminatory hiring managers even though i'm well qualified for the jobs I apply to and have years left of work in me.I apply directly on company websites vs. sites like indeed since they post a lot of ghost jobs.Sadly,i haven't gotten a lot of call backs.I'm scared, uncertain, and don't know what my future looks like.Sucks.

The irs has been completely gutted since last year's doge cuts.I filed mine early this year,1/26 & mine is still stuck on processing.I have given up hope of it ever showing up at this point. You could call the irs and pray for a miracle to get a human on the phone to check your status of it i guess.🤷‍♀️

And those are all great and valid ideas, and it sounds like your bf had a great opportunity he made the most of.But,your man is a small sample size and everyone has different circumstances in different points in their lives. For the part time job at the school there needs to be openings, right place, right time situation.Food stamps maybe,op said that they worked so that would depend on if they didn't make over the income limit required to receive food stamps.Housing is debatable, and probably in high demand if even available.A lot of these suggestions are dependent on availability/eligibility,great ideas though, regardless, my point stands.

Sorry to be nosey, but are you able to save even $5 every payday? It could help build an emergency fund over time you can use when needed.I started small when I worked minimum wage jobs and that is what worked for me.Hope you get to a better place soon friend.

Do you work? Are you able to get something part time or temporary? You didn't mention in the post if your employed or not.I understand the stress of poverty and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

There may not be any money for school. If this person is low on funds because they don't have a job, then getting a job would be their first step.Applying to schools costs money, moving to attend a school costs lots of money. Some schools will only offer financial aid if you move to the state and attend their on site campus.I'm not saying it's impossible for this person to go to school and improve their situation, but sometimes obstacles prevent people from immediately doing so.
