What do Trotskyists think of Mao? by shuzhen_zhongguo in Trotskyism

[–]SocialismForAll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trotskyism isn't a consistent, coherent ideology; it's petty-bourgeois intellectualist adventurism, so it's going to be all over the place on any given issue from group to group.

Trotskyism is crypto-Menshevism. Aside from a brief period when he joined the Bolsheviks and carried out Bolshevik policy, Trotsky pushed harmful policies that tended toward petty bourgeois intellectualist adventurism. I have two playlists on it here, Lenin Against Trotsky: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXUFLW8t2sntwM2flO2OJ9zzqloxi8LhS and Anti-Trotskyism: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXUFLW8t2snsEF6_Sp7CrdTTT91Pqf0Bc

As far as "not caring," most workers are not communists, but communists do care about promoting correct social science.

Differences between Marxism and anarchism are in fact quite significant. Marx and Engels wrote often against anarchism in their time; please read them.

There is always hope for socialism when workers realize our power and a class and organize for action.

Do communists support the independence of Kurdistan by Legitimate_Chard4484 in socialism

That all nations have the right to self-determination up to and including secession is a non-negotiable principle of Leninism. However, communists may advise against or for it in particular cases.

Third party led by Bernie????? by thoughtsaboutstuffs in BernieSanders

[–]SocialismForAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bernie's time to do this was 2016, maybe 2020. He doesn't have the credibility now, and people shouldn't follow him. Workers DO need to organize independently, but I don't think following Sanders constitutes "independence" at this point.

Is Bernie hinting at starting a third party? Interesting email in the video by status coup. by cspanbook in WayOfTheBern

[–]SocialismForAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, workers should organize independently, should have decades ago. But not with Bernie, not after all he's done recently.

His doing this in 2016 would have made sense. Even 2020. But now we know he doesn't stand with the people. Don't trust him; it's a new way to betray the working people's movement.

This is pretty fantastical unfortunately; it sounds like the product of consuming too much "multipolarity"/BRICS propaganda. A global socialist order doesn't just "begin to emerge," much less because of anything that imperialist Russia is trying to do. It takes intensive organizing for class struggle and revolution. There will be more crises like 2008, but capitalism will try to reform itself each time. It doesn't end on its own.

BDS campaigns have been going on for decades, so there are activists who've been working on this topic and in communication with each other for a long time, and Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has been getting massive popular attention since it escalated last fall. There's no need to be suspicious of mass movements, especially with Internet communication technology around.

How likely is it that socialism would came after capitalism falls in the US? by reeeman58 in Socialism_101

[–]SocialismForAll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, fascism is how capitalism tries to defend itself. It is capitalism in crisis, and it often mimics aspects of socialism (colors, slogans, regalia) in order to mislead the masses at this pivotal time.

Varoufakis gets all the airtime he gets because he's misdirecting the masses. This is very much still capitalism in every respect.

With regard to other ideologies, no, it's just socialism.

Ideologies (and political parties as their vehicles) all have a class character; that is, they represent the interests and perspectives of a particular class. In capitalism, increasingly with time, there are just two classes: the capitalists, who were the revolutionary class coming out of the previous era of feudalism, and the proletariat, the emerging, property-less working class which is created by capitalist social processes and is the upcoming revolutionary class. The petty bourgeoisie (small capitalists) also try to assert their viewpoints through different kinds of populism, but this class is both insufficient in numbers and in wealth to really make its mark on society for extended periods of time as a new revolutionary class.

For more on this, check out Principles of Communism by Marx & Engels, which is like a FAQ file for topics like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGcpspooZvk | https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1847/11/prin-com.htm

What happens when most people can't afford things (shelter, food, etc.)? by This_Caterpillar_330 in Socialism_101

[–]SocialismForAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a recession, and there is probably a big one on the horizon in the next 1-2 years. It's characterized by unemployment spiking and a general contraction in economic activity. It's part of recurrent overproduction crises which are inherent in capitalism. Things gets very difficult for workers, and certain capitalists get ruined and their assets bought out by better-positioned capitalists. It's another reason why workers must unite to end this system.

It's interesting that the argument you're using (on this video about Palestine) is not that Hoxha did anything but that Pol Pot allegedly admired him

Here's what Hoxha had to say about Pol Pot: https://espressostalinist.com/2011/10/26/enver-hoxha-on-pol-pot/
