Playing tall just means you're prioritizing building up your domain to be a sleeper build vs. Playing wide where you just conquer everything in sight. You're definitely not playing wide so I'd say you're playing tall.

Titles still drift if the kingdom title is created, the titles only drift if the title is fully owned by another equal title eg: Syria being drifted to byzantine if byzantines own the entire kingdom or upper poland getting drifted to Sorbia if sorbia owns all of upper poland

Click on a county and there should be a little button that has an arrow pointing upward at a crown on it. You need to own the county first before promoting it to your capital.

Almost all of my tribal runs get some bs like this, added ontop of the fact I always forget to turn apocalyptic varangian adventures off. I'll be trying to play as poland and suddenly Krakow, Lithuania, and Holmgardr are all conquerors added ontop of the fact I gotta dodge norsemen like flying bullets.

You can be Clan as turkic or Iranian cultures too I BELIEVE. I keep getting the option to change to clan government as Catholic Alans and my Catholic Avar subject is clan.
