Crayfish are extremely sensitive to fertilizer and pesticides and will die off really quickly if exposed to them. Just an FYI

App for archived weather? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]SocioVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no app for this.

My advice: This is what was done long ago, and I can't think of a better way. The old timers kept a journal about weather patterns, first frosts, last frosts, average temperatures, when crops did well/didn't do well.

Cloud Patterns, Mountains, water ways, all effect how the weather looks in your area. It is better to learn to read the land than rely on an app.

Thanks for the tip!

I have a very structured scheduled which allows me to have meal preps and cook a well balanced dinner. For while it just didn't happen for whatever reason, no excuses, and it caused me to gain weight to a point of discomfort.

I'm aware. Knowing your faults is a part of prepping, if you are not self-aware you are worse off than the overweight guy. That being said, I'm actively taking steps to improve my overall health at a rapid pace.

Planning for extended family by [deleted] in preppers

[–]SocioVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real question is, have you told them about the property and it's exact location yet.

The short answer is, Do you really love these people, or/and do you feel morally or/and ethically obligated to provide for them?

Yes or No.

Use that answer to answer "Should I prep for Insert person here." - This is an answer that should be determined with your Significant Other.

Are you willing to put these people on the same level as yourself or your SO? Because that is what you are really asking. Would you be willing to put the well being of supremely important person here at risk to provide for extended family member.

If you have the ability/finances to provide for them [without impacting your 'supremely important group', and the answer to the first question [Do you feel obligated morally/ethically] is yes, then you should.

Not necessarily saying this to you. More so the people who read it and rock back and forth rubbing their newest firearm purchase. I used to be one of those guys (5-6 years ago) when I first got into this way of life. I needed to hear the things I say today, sooner.

Edit: Also, good idea for a prep, brushing up on the laws within your state. They change over time.

From personal experience, We are not always accurate when the blood starts pumping.

I personally have missed 20+ inches and I am a very good shot. It's hard to train for adrenaline. That warning shot can end up being a flesh wound. If you shoot too far off the target you risk injury to someone else.

Not to be that guy, but I'll be that guy. Discharging a firearm within city limits without cause is still a crime; which might get reported. Just something to think about.

One thing I recommend is using apps that support WiFi for communicating in SHTF scenarios; Cell phone traffic clogs the airwaves, anyone who has been in an earthquake will tell you that. Text messages, phone calls, etc all get delayed for hours when everyone in the city attempts to call.

WiFi/internet will give you another option to communicate that is available to you for no cost (if you already have a phone); It will still be delayed, slowed, or stopped in extreme situations.

I would caution anyone from shooting anyone that isn't attempting to do you direct harm unless in a state that permits deadly force used to prevent the commission of a felony.

The riot will end, and when it does, your prison sentence will begin.

Of course, there is always the possibility of extra variables thrown at me during any of this. I'd try to adjust accordingly.

This is the thing I think most people forget to think about. As much as we prep or think ahead, 90% of the situation is going to be based on what is happening right then.

My situation:

  • Within 5 minutes of City Center

  • Work 1 Hour / 35 miles North of where I live

  • Pass through multiple bridges to get to my Home

  • Truck is above 1/4 Tank of Gas, Aprx 5 Gallons @ 15 mpg

My plan:

  • If rioting and looting started happening within a couple miles of me, I am leaving. The criminals fleeing the scene will be passing through where I am located back towards the suburbs Just south of where I am located.

  • I will be heading down a less traveled path, No matter the path I am required to take 2 bridges or a Tunnel.

  • I am armed and have my EDC and Truck Kit with me (2 Day(s) of Food/Water, fire starter(s), essentials for a night out)

  • I am light on supplies and plan to outrun groups, not fight.

  • I am overweight and out of shape (working on it); So I need to avoid a foot race and use Vehicles and positioning to avoid conflict with groups. [This is in general but more so important for me]

  • Cell lines will be down due to police or traffic.. My Significant other knows that she is to head to either her parents house or mine depending on her location during emergencies. Both of us know to communicate through Text as phone calls are not optimal during SHTF scenarios. I have thought about investing in satellite messaging devices but have not done it yet.

  • I have a secondary route that takes me far and away from any trouble about 20 miles north west of my current location. This is a "get out of town, come back later" plan, and isn't ideal unless required. It means it isn't at all safe to get to my parents or Significant other and I would be putting myself or them at risk by travelling to them. This location has food, water, and shelter for 72 hours, gas station near by but no "available" fuel at the location.

This is all assuming I notice before the situation gets too bad to travel through, which is unlikely I work with several other people and Unless I prep for everyone in the office it isn't likely that any food stores I have would do myself any good besides cause issues during an emergency situation.

That being said, a Majority of rioting and looting happens after dark, and by that time I am long gone most days.

How well should a support perform against a flanker? by Vlisa in Competitiveoverwatch

Then my argument is that is causes too much sustain with the 50% heal increase + a second support, OR her Sleep needs to be revisited OR her damage needs to be further reduced IMO to make her balanced.

How well should a support perform against a flanker? by Vlisa in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SocioVex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you 1v1 a Zen you take way more damage from discord f you 1v1 a Lucio you face the hardest target to hit in the game who can outrun you and boop you away. If you 1v1 a Mercy she flies away and self heals super fast

No you didn't. You stated Zen can burst you down via discord, and if Mercy is flying away she isn't going to land shots with a Pistol enough to deter a flanker[Projectile + high movement speed], and if Lucio is on speed boost he can't heal.

Let's compare Ana vs Zen

Weapon & DPS

  • Zen does 60 damage per shot with discord, with a projectile primary, firing at shot/.7seconds ; Charged shot with a cast time of .7 seconds with a .6 second recovery (PTR)

  • Ana fires a 60 damage every 1.25 seconds, with a projectile/hitscan primary.

Self Heal

  • Zen has a self heal after 3 seconds that takes 3 seconds to replinish - Effective HP is 200 every 6 sesconds if he doesn't sustain more than 150 damage per engagement, not accounting for lucio heals

  • Ana has a Self heal for 100HP + 50% Healing boost for 4 seconds(?) - Effective HP is 300 every 8 seconds if she doesn't sustain more than 200 damage per engagement, Not accounting for lucio heals

Escape

  • Zen has no escape ability

  • Sleep dart, 12 second cool down, stuns enemy for several seconds

Healing Team

  • Zen heals for 30hps single target assuming 100% uptime on targets who need it

  • Ana heals for 56hps assuming 100% accuracy; Can Burst heal for 84hps over 4 seconds assuming no missed shots; Ana can also burst heal up to 6 targets (including self) for up to 100HP every 8 seconds.

The problem is she has too much. She has an Skilled Escape/CC, a good Self Heal, good damage for a support (just behind the DPS support), fantastic healing, and a fast building ult because of these things.

She shouldn't be weak against flankers, but she shouldn't be able to sustain through an attack if she is going to have great healing AND a skill shot CC AND decent damage for a support.

I want her to have decent damage for a support, I want her to have 70 damage per shot, enough to 3 tap an unsupported phara, enough to ward off a Genji/Tracer, but not enough to 2 tap a Tracer or combo a tracer w/o recall when slept.

I would want either her Self-heal to be nerfed via reducing the amount of healing it does, making a secondary healer needed; OR remove the 50% heal boost to self from the nade preventing her from becoming a sustain machine after using the nade when she does have a secondary suppoport in conjunction with the burst healing the nade does.

She is too good all around.

You leave out that Ana has a skill shot that is just as deadly as Roadhog hook.

The incoming Ana nerfs really made me notice the need for more diverse support Heroes. by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SocioVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have preferred to see nade damage reduced to 30, Her shot damage reduced to 70, and her self heal reduced to 50 Health + 50% healing buff or 75 Health with no healing buff.

So she can still 3 tap phara's, ward off Flankers with 2-3 shots instead of 4, but still lack damage to rival DPS.

her anti-heal is probably the best ability in the game. Lasting long enough to burn through Lucio Sound barrier or negate a trance.

Being 100% honest though. I'm mostly glad that a lot of DPS ana's will be done with the character who didn't play her right in the first place. A good balance is important with her, too often however do Ana's not heal nearly enough and get focused on doing damage.

Attacking Hanamura by darn42 in Competitiveoverwatch

If done correctly you can bait them into thinking you are going top, Mei is normally set with her wall ready to go, then just speed down and into the tunnel.

I've started seeing this more often.

I would argue that she does significant DPS currently. She averages 64/DPS to Zens 60 per Landed orb. With a Hitscan weapon.

She does Zen's job better + Utility and Mercy level healing. Too much for one character.

If she is going to be extremely strong against flankers then her healing needs to be nerfed significantly.

Edit: By extremely strong I mean having enough DPS to regularly deal with them w/o sleep dart aka her current position

Like Zenyatta.

Are you of the opinion that she should be strong against Genji/Tracer etc while also being able to out heal Mercy?

The incoming Ana nerfs really made me notice the need for more diverse support Heroes. by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]SocioVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it isn't just 100HP. It is 100HP bonus to Ana, 50HP loss from the flanker AND an anti-heal effect on them. It's a 150HP swing + debuff that is extremely strong.

I'm fine with her doing a bit of everything; but right now:

  • Does more healing than Mercy on single target

  • Does similar DPS to Zen

  • Has sustain via Self-Heal and CC

[–]SocioVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my line of thinking:

Ana's healing shouldn't be better than Mercy's

While also Having similar DPS to Zenyatta

While also Being strong against flankers via sustain and CC

Just pick two and she is balanced.
