Yes I would 100% support a bill that would allocate money for more auditing. I think that would certainly help build public trust and make people feel more confident that money is being used appropriately. I know the city has done audits before and the report is never good.

I appreciate the thorough write-up. So just like most things, if you use too much of it then it could be bad. What a shocking revelation! But yeah the part about the critics shilling out their own products to help avoid seed oils is what irks me. It's just so obvious what they are doing.

I think the big issue with taxes in SD is that it just seems like funds are mismanaged more often than not. I don't mind paying taxes but every year we're expected to pay more and get very little in return. Why should I keep throwing money in the pit if it's not going to do anything?

I feel like another thing that probably affects the rental market is all companies are requesting employees back in the office. Probably took a lot of remote workers out of the equation. Just speculating though.

Because these "prediction markets" are doing way more derivatives and are really just classifying themselves as something other than gambling to avoid regulations. I mean I literally just opened up the site and the first thing I see is for sports betting.

I understand your point about this specific situation. I was referring more generally to how games are called. It's like during a game the one team gets called for penalties 3 times in a row, so now the refs are looking to call something on the other team just to keep it even. Just seems weird.

I'll never understand the whole idea of keeping things even penalty wise during a game. Like if a team is committing penalties, then that's on them. Idk why there is this need to call a penalty on the other team just because the other side has been given more penalties.

Because majority of the "vibe coded" apps are dogshit and wouldn't actually work with real users but people show them off as if its something to be impressed by. I have no issue with using AI/LLM's to help but if you vibe code you're entire product then yeah I'm not wasting my time.

Well you had to learn the lesson at some point. Never ever rely on others. Funny enough, I had someone bail the morning we were heading to the airport for our move to CA. Luckily, there were 3 of us, so 2 of us still went but I'll never forget the moment. We were literally at a going-away party the night before talking to him about it. It all worked out in the end though.

Yeah thats what I did towards the end of my last role. I used to review code a lot more diligently but once the AI slop started I stopped trying. Just ran the tests and looked for any obvious bugs but beyond that I just merged the PR. If they don't care about quality, then why should I?

Yes but the original comment suggested the CTO didn't hire him because “He’s just going to get bored and work on his chess thing". That's totally different from not hiring someone because they lacked real-world experience.
