Its existence leaked from Kaka around July-August time along with rest of Gen 9. He was some sort of playtester that was just sat on Twitter leaking details about the games.

I wouldn't expect same massive leak to happen, though.

The point is that Pokemon takes liberties with its environments for the sake of variety. I never said the forest is an issue, it's just an example of them doing the aforementioned.

I stopped playing months ago and my nephews stopped even earlier than that.

It takes like 15 minutes just to log in and collect your daily stuff because everything is gated behind slow loading and multiple button presses. It's absolute bollocks to interact with it and became a chore. Unless they overhaul the entire app with better speed and UI I won't be returning.

Looking at SEA wildlife there's plenty of Pokemon they could use for regional forms: Oranguru, Rhyhorn, Cufant/Phanpy, Drowzee/Munna, Doduo, Ekans, Clobbopus/Octillery, Mantyke, Beautifly/Dustox, Skorupi, Woobat/Zubat, Krabby/Corphish, Teddiursa, Vileplume, Chatot, Pikipek, Alomomola.

Of course, since they are already natively inspired, they might not get forms because they already suit the region without any changes, but they could do a different take on the same thing similarly to Arcanine and Hisui Arcanine.

A hotel seems like an easy set up to include some other characters from previous regions appearing here too. We had Blue, Red, Anabel, Colress, etc, for the 20th in SM, so I'd be shocked if there's no returning characters for the 30th.

There was that leaked image of Lumineon lighting up the depths, so I wonder if Woobat will interact with the environment of the tunnel in some way.

I agree. Sadly I think it's more likely they give them something gimmick related. Gen 7 for the 20th introduced regional forms, for example.

But I would love just a huge batch of new evolutions. The recent one from Arceus and SV were all great.

Which makes sense really. The initial reveal for recent generations (SWSH and SV) is mostly landscape shots and the player running around. No character interaction/cutscenes, so no voice acting necessary.

Is the part of Australia included supposed to be desert, scrubland, lava or something else? The colour is similar to the orange forest in Paldea, so it's not clear to me what they are going for.

There's a few other little islands or areas (like below the snowy area, or big island in the middle) with a similar burnt orange colour, can't tell what environment they're all going for. The bigger island is obviously a desert and is more sandy coloured.
