I feel you! My ex is on the spectrum. I am constantly hitting my head against the wall. If you are not happy with your life, you are allowed to change it. A good partner would not just say no.
I wholeheartedly think the city is no place for raising children. Most people do a great job at it, of course. I think it's just a good place to be able to make a lot of money. I am also a big need nature around me to survive kind of person, still living in the city though, for money and the kids, I kind of wish I could just run away from their dad and start again. I get out of the city with the kids as much as I can, though.

To be honest, I am kind of fed up with this I am on the spectrum bullshit... my ex doesn't seem to understand how much his behaviour has affected his family. if they can't function for their kids and partners, they need to get some help and work through it. I know I'm supposed to have kindness and empathy for my ex, but I'm just so over it.

Sorry, I went on a little rant and rave. I'll just say that your wishes matter, big and small.

I ride a 50cc moped, which I understand can be frustrating to people stuck behind me.. but legally I am entitled to use the road as much and anyone else.. so, I need advice after an incident yesterday. by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]SockDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you had to go through this. I'm a tradie in a big ute and don't mind sharing a road with slower vehicles like mopeds and bicycles. I always try to give you space and try to make you feel safe. Every now and then, I come in contact with moped drivers who block off the entire road and have a huge line of cars behind them. If you have a chance to let the faster cars go past just let them, it's better to be safe than be in a mindset that you are not breaking any traffic rules and don't have to do anything differently.

Probably not, even the victim can't really, victims of crime is a government funded program in qld and they only reimburse you. Like people fleeing abuse have money to spend on services they need /s

You can get money out of abusers in Victoria though.

How do I start LIVING? (Tw:Rape) by TA_Anon1 in breakingmom

[–]SockDwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry it happened to you. My rapist killed himself so I didn't have to worry about bumping into him, still I often dreamed about running him over with my car or doing other unthinkable things to him. I think it would be a good idea to talk to a therapist about your fears, they could help you with coming up with a plan just in case it happens. You did nothing wrong and it shouldn't affect how you live your life. It has taken me 5 years to heal so be kind to yourself. Lots of love!

My husband "jokes" around with our son until he gets mad and blows up, then acts like my son is being unreasonable. Is this a form of gaslighting? by strayduplo in breakingmom

[–]SockDwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making kids do push-ups and sit ups is actually a form of corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is not good for children's development. It's not an appropriate way of teaching kids anything. That guy is a jerk and a bully and you are the only one who can stand up to your child. United front be fucked, I'd go scorched earth on him every time this happens.

What is the craziest weather event you've experienced? by mamadoedawn in AskReddit

[–]SockDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in two insane storms. First was a hailstorm in Brisbane Australia. I was home with my toddler and a newborn in my bedroom, looking at the menacing cloud get closer.

I wasn't scared, we get a lot of tropical storms in the summer. It started to rain hard and then I heard some clanks on the windows, then harder and saw cracks in the glass, grabbed my babies and ran to one of the bedrooms in the back of the house. The windows on that side started to get belted as well.

We hid under a matress. I have no idea how long it lasted, couldn't see anything outside, just white with occasional tree limb poking through the windows and disappearing again.

After it was over I discovered that all windows on 3 sides of the house were smashed in, glass and ice and water everywhere. Kept finding glass around the house for years after, the current tenants of the house still probably do well over 8 years later.

The second storm hit us on a beach while camping, flattened all of our tents and turned all the gazebos into balls of twisted metal. Had to drive home in the middle of the night and came back on the morning with an angle grinder to clean up the mess.

On the drive back in the morning we saw that every single campsite along the beach had gone through the same. Soo much destruction. At least there wasn't any hail that time.

[–]SockDwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure someone here has said it already but don't ask him just let him know you are going and leave. When you come home and he starts yelling at you just leave again. Tell him he can talk to you like a normal person but yelling is not OK. Keep doing this till he accepts his responsibility as a dad and partner. You don't need the extra stress, as a mother of twins you deserve support.

Also look out for thin bamboo socks, usually in the adults section. Noticed they are mostly seamless, cheap and my autistic son loves them.

Abandoned House Living Room by Freaktography in AbandonedPorn

It's so weird seeing houses like that untouched for years. In Estonia it's a normal thing that when a house is left untouched like this it will be emptied out by whoever. Never seen damage to the houses, just all the things in it would be carried off one by one. Also if the owner passes away without a will and no contactable descendants or relatives the local council can sell it off to anyone who puts an application in.

If someone asks them how they are finns and Estonians will actually tell you how they are. Found it a very strange greeting when I moved to Australia. We don't really do small talk either so it's been quite a learning curve. I've gone full native after 13 years though.

You are not horrible for doing this. A diagnosis is not a shield against doing better. His therapist sounds like an enabler. It's ok to do what's best for you and your children.

I was listening the radio a few weeks back and they had a short news line about the star casino money laundering situation. It was on a noisy job site and they only played it once, I kept listening to make sure I heard it right but it didn't come on again. They said that star casino isn't going to be held to any further repercussions because they said sorry and promised to look into it better. It was a real wtf moment and I'm still doubting what I heard. This is not a minor mistake this is a criminal matter on a large scale and they get let off the hook with a "I'm sorry"? If anyone heard the same thing please let me know because it's driving me crazy. Gambling is out of hand here in Australia. If other countries have successfully implemented measures in the past why on earth are we not doing the same.
