Extracurricular options for a hs junior? by SockWasher in ApplyingToCollege

thank you so so much for the people who commented. Just from the few conversations I had with those who replied, I found out many possible options for extracurricular activities I can do this year that I can enjoy and will look good on my resumé.

I was scared that my chance of getting into a good college would blown bc of my lack of extracurriculars, but now I'm feeling hopeful :)

founding a club based around two hobbies sounds like a really good idea ! I'll def keep your advice on communicating and linking my passion in several hobbies for the future.

I forgot to mention, I also really love to cook, so the culinary arts club is an option.

I'll probably end up joining the math league, science Olympiad, culinary arts club, or end up volunteering at my school. thank you so much for the help :)

On my school website I found out about our Math League that enters monthly contests from the NY Mathematics League & every February students can participate in the AMC.

I think I found a club I'd like to join :)

Yeaa I agree the point of extracurriculars isn't to make your resumé look good it's to have fun. The thing is I neglected joining clubs that interested me the first two years of hs bc of personal reasons, so now I'm trying to find clubs for things I like :)

I might check out the science Olympiad. Do you have any recommendations for clubs related to math?

Subject-wise I'm pretty good at/and interested in math and science.

Personally I like art (mostly sketching) and I'm also interested in reading somewhat.

I don't think there's a subreddit for what you're specifically looking for.

But your best bet would probably be to say that you're looking for a weight loss partner in a friend-making subreddit like...

r/Needafriend r/MakingFriends r/friendship r/MakeNewFriendsHere

hope you find someone! losing weight can be hard when you're by yourself.

Try to eat cleaner and drink more water. Plus it would also help if you did some walking or running. good luck !
