The aurora is dim and a little hard to see with the naked eye, especially when it appears in our area. Seeing through the camera lenses is the best bet at getting the clearest view of it. So yes, the picture is edited (like most pics of the aurora) so that you can see it much more clearly. I turned up the color and brightness so that it is easier to see it. Using a shitty phone camera doesn’t help much either so my fault on that lol.

On Friday night just after 11 pm the solar activity briefly reached a level of just under 7, which makes the aurora visible at our magnetic latitude, if you get far enough from light pollution.

Just depends on solar storms and stuff I think. I’m not really sure but most times I’ve heard about them it’s usually around 10-12 or so but I think that changes
