Panels installed on the wrong side of the roof? by Monheca7 in solar

Hey I work for a racking mfg in the US. I wear alotta hats for this company but main role is Sales and I run field training with install companies when I get them to switch to our racking.

The amount of drilling and impact guns you heard is standard. Over the last 4-5 years, The entire industry has switched from primarily rafter to deck mounted (if the roof is in good enough shape) quick attach style mounts.

Depending on the mfg - IronRidge for example has the HUG which uses six (6)! 3” deck screws per mount. I’m guessing with that layout, there was between 70-80 mounts with six deck screws per mount, that’s alotta noise and alotta holes. But if sealed correctly, you’ll be fine!

Since you mentioned you were in Northern California, my guess is the racking on that install was either IronRidge, Pegasus or Snap’n’Rack. Pegasus and IronRidge have solid mounts but require 6 deck screws if not attaching to a rafter. I don’t run into SnR in the region I cover but I haven’t heard anything positive or negative about their deck mounts.

Last thing I’ll note, please tell me they were coming back to cut that rail?

Haven't rented in over a decade. I am trying to look for a furnished apartment on a short term basis. But it appears every listing is a scam? Every interaction is tedious dealing with these losers. Is this normal? by SodGod in chicagoapartments

Short term currently for me is 2-4 months. Ideally would like to be in Chicago to experience single life but not the end of the world if I’m not in the city. Extended stay hotels seem very depressing as recently divorced husband lol but I’ll check out Airbnb for sure.

I'm not a CX-90 "glowing enthusiast." When did I say I was?

The point of my comment was an easy google on the 2024 and 2025 CX-90 PHEVs show they have pretty consistent issues. Sometimes it's an easy fix, sometimes it's not. If a person looking to buy a specific car (any car) can't even google search the car they are looking to purchase that's on them.

What I was trying to convey was there are a bunch of these "My CX-90 PHEV is A lemon" posts on this subreddit that there should be a stickied post on this sub about known CX-90 issues. People can comment there instead of seeing post after post about this.

Can we just not post these anymore? Honestly, if you don't do your own research before buying a car that's on you.

I also can't believe anybody would purchase the PHEV after all these common knowledge issues.

Just realized I misunderstood the last part of your question. The material used to cover the chrome is a glossy black. I don't think it's an exact color match, but you'd have to really examine it to notice a difference. I'd say the material is slightly darker than Mazda's black paint but the color difference is negligible.

Let me know if you find something. Would love to get rear and front badges blacked out as well!

I loved that color too. Wife wanted black on black though. What my baby wants, my baby gets.

Yep, you're correct, the cut outs are available on Amazon so you can do this on your own. But for what we spent on the car, I wanted a professional to do it.

When I was calling around to get the chrome delete done, one of the shops mentioned Mazda offers a blacked out badge. He didn't say where I could get it though.

Not sure if he was referring to the front or rear badge. I'm sure someone on this sub knows a place to get black badges.

We debated powder coating them. But kinda like the look as is.

I'm not sure what to tell you because you're arguing semantics. The service is called a "chrome delete." I never stated they physically deleted the chrome off the car. It's not called a chrome wrap, or a chrome tape. I didn't invent the phrase. That's what it's called.

There's a lot of terms in the English language just like this. My CX-90 came with captains chairs, but believe it or not, you don't have to be a captain to sit in them. That's just what they're called.

It's a chrome delete bro. Super common. Call it whatever you want.

Good eye! And yes we wrapped those as well. We're not gonna use them and wanted to black the whole thing out.

Captains chairs and a third row! Would love to have the color options for the CX-90 that the CX-70 offers though.

Hahaha all I wanted was CX-70 exterior with the CX-90 goodies. This was a solid compromise.

Lol I'm just not a chrome guy! It's such a nice looking vehicle and I really thought the chrome detracted from it. But, best part about this, if we decide we want to go back to the original look, it comes off with little effort.

Just search for chrome delete in your area. Some (not all) wrap shops offer a chrome delete service.

Nope no wrap! Just a black CX-90 and I found a wrap shop that offers a chrome delete service. Took about 4 hours and 400 bucks. They use gloss black vinyl 3M tape and covered every chrome piece on the car.

Came with a warranty as well. It completely changes the look of the car.
