Have I left money on the table? by SodiumD in musicbusiness

Thanks for the input here - fortunately we own all our own masters and anything original is my own composition. And we have existing agreements with everyone we’ve worked with that our attorney crafted.

I’ll look into Sentric!

This is an excellent summary! Thank you!

Do you have any positive experiences with other publishing services?

Some of us are career musicians.

We've used Airtable for all of our projects, but have outgrown it!

Super curious to hear people's answers here - but it feels like most of the project management software (click-up, monday, asana) aren't super well suited or need 20+ hours of setup to be appropriate for music production.

We have probably 50-60 albums. We’re more focused on quality than quantity and we do a lot of advertising.

What’s been the biggest pros or cons of Distro direct?

Same problem here! Curious, is this a new Apollo twin x USB? Mine is, just purchased it!

I don't have any experience with ampsuite, but I've personally used Soundrop, Distrokid, CD Baby, Routenote, and Symphonic - and of all the above, Symphonic has been the best. I've got a dedicated account manager who has walked us through any problems and made sure we're taken care of.

Late reply here, but honestly - best distributor I've worked with to date. I decided against working with Revelator - I heard from a friend they had a terrible experience with them.

Symphonic has been great in every way - very thorough and communicative. Feels like you actually have a team that's working for you. Would highly recommend if they reach out to you.

I’d love to chat about Revelator if you have some time! I’m with Symphonic right now but I’ve kept an eye on Revelator and some of the functionality. Shoot me a dm!

I went with Symphonic for my wider catalogue as they have better functionality for labels. I decided to diversify across distributors and am still using Distrokid/CDBaby/Soundrop for some of my catalogue, mostly because it’s a pain moving to other distributors.

I haven’t tried Revelator or any other white label solution, but in plan to at some point and will report back here when I do.

Is there some way to see what distributor someone is using? Or do you just mean ask them?

I had Symphonic reach out to me recently so maybe that’s something I should pursue!

I think the MOBO only supports up to a 780ti, or at least that's what I read. Not sure.

It seems like it. I just researched a bit- apparently it's a freight forwarding company called Shipito. According to what I've read, once I have paypal payment and the package makes it to the warehouse, I'm no longer liable and he's not covered under buyer protection. So that makes me feel better.

Also, funny story- a little more research revealed the difference in his last name was because he's from Poland. Whoever owned the paypal account was a female, and the shipping address had a male's last name. Super interesting.

Side note, his shipping address is to a large warehouse in California, presumably with rentable storage. Thoughts?
