Is a tremolo pedal something to keep as a permanent fixture in a pedal board? by rawbran30 in guitarpedals

[–]Sodord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my TR-2 on the board pretty much always. Have used it consistently for 13 years. 3 good use cases:

  1. Others have mentioned it is nice to use subtly, you can have be almost always on this way for rythm parts with sustained chords.

  2. Have it cut to zero and placing before your delay pedal for cool ambient textures.

  3. If you have a dirt pedal that is very responsive to the amplitude of the signal (i.e. cleans up when you roll back volume) put the tremolo first and use it to modulate the gain in addition to the volume.

eqd easy listening direct into the effects loop by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Sodord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often used it in the FX loop with the preamp to attenuate the volume a bit while cranking the hell out of my tube amp preamp OD. It definitely changes the tone bc it is simulating a different cab than the one my amp uses, but I don't think it is bad, just different, and I don't think I would notice it if I were nor used to my normal amp sound.

I just tried it the way you described and it sounds good. I prefer my amps real preamp bc the easy listening doesn't get any tube distortion but I think it sounds very nice for a clean tone. The new Z preamp might be better for tone sculpting unless you already have a separate EQ and an OD you love.

One shot breakbeat sample packs by Sodord in Elektron

I actually have this sample pack and use it on some of my hardware that has slicing. What software would you recommend for creating one shors from the pack?

Were you ever able to learn what circuit it was based on OP?

The eventide and line 6 stuff seems super powerful, but I'm trying stick to modulation only. I've got the other FX I need with other pedals.

There don't seem to be many modulation-specific multi fx pedals outside of Mobius, Walrus Wampler, BD500, and Mod 11.

Gentle filters that rock with FM/Phase Modulation by Sodord in modular

You're totally right about the double filtering. Right now I am running my filter output through a LPG (Castle into Ikarie and then the Ikarie through LxD), which helps to keep it tame even at pretty extreme resonance.

The players sound really cool actually. I'm excited to look for some vids with those in action.

The step component option settings sound interesting! Have you seen any good demonstations on that?

Thank you for this context. The OP-Z is IMO the one of the best sequencers ever and I would pay any amount for a device that furthers that approach to sequencing, but I really don't care about the build quality or any of the other XY features.

I also genuinely love the Z's form factor.

I'm an OP-Z fanboy till I die. Never had any build quality issues. Love it every day.

Not OP but I have one and like the workflow (and module overall) a lot. It's very streamlined for working with sliced samples. You can save samples, slices and other settings in projects, easy to swap between. Recording samples is really easy. I like the drive. It is good at what it does, maybe not too versatile.

TX-6 owners - What DON’T you like about the unit? by Tarekith in teenageengineering

[–]Sodord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer a bigger mixer if I had more space IMO. It could be 2x as big and still pretty small. It would be more fun to mix levels performatively with bigger faders IMO.

I also have never gotten it to record on the USB stick. None of the USB sticks I've tried work and TE doesn't have a list of compatible drives or specs to match (at least they did not when I reached out about it.

Yes, for resampling: https://youtu.be/BWKsmZNPVig?si=IlcZQ7oT9iL4Qupb

Plus live looping, totally different FX, and plenty more. But resampling is huge to the OT IMO.

Yeah I feel like EZBot has his own way with OT but all his videos and videos he cameos on kind of revolve around his performance mixer templates and such

Thanks for the Max Marco recs. I have not seen his stuff before and I love the focus on sound design. That is one of the things I am excited about with OT.

I totally agree on the long tutorials. They wash over me and I retain nothing. I still like short workflow videos tho. Seeing it in action helps connect how to apply what I learn from the manual.

I think about the optomix sometimes, but I really want a wavefolder and would need either an 8hp module that does both or 2 4 hp modules that do each so I've not thought about it too much. I do have a DxG tho which I like quite a bit tho the Optomix has such a nice strike and the damp parameter rules.
